Apparently, the "朋友是一个坚韧不拔的纪录片" meme is one of those bad literal translations, which make no sense in Chinese, but I guess that's what makes it spread more in the non-Chinese community, somehow, but the actual meaning is something like "Friends, the show, is a documentary of life in Hong Kong", puzzling even in English?
