The regular administrative staff are taking a vacation, and in the meantime, Biigoh is taking over. See here for more information.
A notice about Rule 3 regarding sites hosting pirated/unauthorized content has been made. Please see here for details.
Staff is working to deal with the problem of synonymous tags. See here for more information and to suggest tag mergers.
Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com.
Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
well, two suggests unrelated to actually creating synonyms:
1. the above shouldn't be possible: don't have the exact text show up in the drop down if it's not a valid tag. it just confuses people, and I can't think of a benefit.
2. if qq does go and merges tags (and not just create synonyms)...
"sub protag" and "submissive protagonist" should be merged.
"dom mc", "dominant mc" and "dominant protagonist" should be merged. maybe include "dominant protagonist but not afraid to switch".
"dom" as a tag shows up on the suggested list in the search page, but when actually searched for throws...
As it stands, we have a bunch of tags that don't mention an OC that are being merged into "si/oc", when they could easily be "SI in to canon character", which wouldn't really apply to the new tag. edit: while we simultaneously have a separate "self-insert" tag.
Personally, I'd recommend all...
[X] Plan: Barrier please.
-[X] Barrier Technology: The captain found some details about what seemed to be force fields in the systems. Fuck it, you want force fields to keep your new home safer!
-[X] Stim Packs: The best medical technology in the galaxy doesn't help if you can't get people to it...
It sounds like Research and Production are being completely split of from the main turn vote? Personally I like that. it avoids some action pressure where it wouldn't make sense in universe (the top executives aren't really the people who do R&D), as well as out of universe, where we can never...
[X] Sharpening the Axe
[X] Private Disclosure: You have the necessary frequencies, so you'll directly contact only the important militaries and politician. They'll know better how to manage possible panic over more alien threats.
It's too late at night for me to build a plan, but the mandatory "get done nows" seem to be:
[ ] Interdepartmental Training
[ ] Sim City
and if we go anyplace that might see combat,
[ ] Accelerate Repairs
For things I actively don't want,
[ ] Plan Celestial Being sounds like a good way to have...
Okay, taking the remaining martians isn't crowding out space for useful adults then. Rather, we're (still) desperate for just about anybody that can operate a computer or turn a wrench.
Not really? it's 1236 people, mostly kids and retired old people. That's... not a polity, that's a (failed) settlement. While we could eventually get it be a polity, its not anywhere near one, dependent on both a large amount of immigration, as well as some viable industry sprouting up.
Also...
[X] Accept the Survivors Onboard: Will begin the Mercenary Arc. You'll have more freedom to act and maneuver.
edit: changed vote to onboard. if we're going to be mercenaries either way, this is the much better option. we can fit the people either way, and not having a relatively vulnerable base...
I think the smart thing to do for the martians in this scenario is take them. but on the other hand rebuilding the dome sounds more interesting, and that the actions needed there will help us in the long term more than a bunch of short term mercenary contracts.
@Zarori, questions from someone...
