Eh, an unfortunate situation where the water in the house shut off for 5 hours or so. It wasn't really due to incompetence or anything, just a minor electrical failure which sent a pumping station for a loop so that people up on the mountain couldn't get water.

I do that too, and I'm one of them. Odd sleep schedules are odd.

(Technically, more than one bloke has a go at the Jesus Communism thing with a walkie-talkie to the Big G, but only one guy figures polygamy is a great idea).

I was completely unaware of this Twilight fanfiction debacle, but rest assured, I am amused.

It's not actually a fanfiction, I just call it one because it's Twilight, from Edward's perspective. That's all it is. And she was expecting it to sell like a full-fledged book, so when the first... 9 chapters, I think, were leaked, Meyer threw a bitch fit and decided to drop it.

The sad thing is that it was actually pretty interesting. More so than the main series, anyways.

Well, that's not quite it. Blood for the Sky God is essentially a scenario in which the Manchu or Mongol tribes cross the Pacific to find the Aztecs - and then incorporate the Aztec Nahuatl faith with their own Tengri religion.

I'm sure you can imagine what manner of shenanigans a nomadic steppe horde with the advantage of horses in North America could accomplish, and how that in turn could affect Europe - not to mention what manner of impact half a million tons of gold would have on the normally dirt-poor nomadic societies.

The first word I could think of with a Sch in it is School. That sounds a touch different, in my experience. Though, that's probably one of English's legacy fuckups.

Regardless, are there really people who cannot pronounce t͡ʃ?

I have username elsewhere that includes Sch, and people keep telling me they can't pronounce it. (To clarify it'sa perfectly normal word other than a single case of s->sch)

And school, if written phonetically turns into skool. The sound I'm talking about is more akin to the German word Schule - which also means school :)

Exaggeration to make a point. Although yesterday was very much a Bad Day. Sleep deprivation caused by an 800 mile train ride and pointlessly complicated bureaucratic nonsense combined with a boss who seems eager to set me up for the most humiliating of failures makes for a very bad time.
