Quick question, I wrote something, an omake for fanfiction, on this forum, and someone else has used that same writing as basis for something they wrote (with my consent at the time)

But now I want to take down what I wrote, can I ask the other writer to remove their references to what I wrote, or is that out of line?

I would like to know. For possible future reference.

If you feel that the content is not up to snuff, or is no longer a representation of what you see your story as, then I think you should contact the person in question, Talk to them because I know a couple of stories like that where a fan created a fanfic of a fanfic and the original fanfic writer decided that they didn't like the way the story was going, in that case, the 2nd person there, liked the concepts that the original fanfic writer had made, but didn't like the changes, they agreed to just remove the note saying that his work was inspired by the other fanfic writer because things were getting heated.

Thank you.

This does sound like something that ideally should be sorted between the two of you and not on the forum's end. Having said that, the way it usually goes at least in legal circles is that you own what you create and you own the plotlines and characters that come with that as well. if the other author has used those, then you can - in theory - request they remove them.

That said, just like it's within your rights to ask that, it's in their rights to just edit out your stuff and then repost it with their original stuff and you can't really do much about it as long as the new version isn't drawing on you or yours, it is its own legally distinct thing ala Thirty Shades of Grey vs Twilight.

Thanks, I was more just asking in a "Is this okay to do by forum rules" sense.

But all the advice is helpful.

Mods if your there, you can lock this down, I have enough information.

context being smut, I will say. Before this gets shut down. The first guy had some sauce, and no longer agreed that the sauce was something they wanted their name plasterd next to. And people started being weird, so they agreed to just remove the first guys name from the second dudes fic. Thank you for cumming to my ted talk.
