A story based off the peerage I made in Dynastylights' thread: Highschool DxD CYOA

This test is in preparation for the story that I'll drop soon. I had finished reading all 25 volumes of DxD a couple days ago. Once I finish reading Shin, Slashdog, and ExE, I'll post.

Just thought I'd give it a shot since it seems pretty fun. I vow to write 100,000 words before dropping it.

After conquering the Dream, Cardinal's newly obtained Great One form combines with his Nephilim flesh, turning him into a transcendent amalgamation of the two. Accompanying him are his two new little sisters and the doll. Heavily traumatized by his time in the Dream, Cardinal breaks up with his girlfriend and focuses on improving his healing magic. During this period, he meets ??? and takes them under his wing as an apprentice.

A terrible barebones outline:

Two months before the story begins, ??? finishes scrying for someone who could help with her affliction and finds Cardinal, who is known as Saint Cardinal because he heals people for free in a seemingly run-down building that people call the chapel. Desperate to end their pain, they convince their King to allow them to seek his aid after evaluating him. After a month of observation by the peerage, they enact their plan: some enroll in his school, others observe him around town or while healing people in his "chapel," and ??? acts as a cat.

To their dismay, one day he undergoes a sudden change, drops out of school, and becomes extremely reclusive. This causes ??? to disregard the plan and beg for his help.

The story begins in Fourth Heaven, or Eden's Garden. Cardinal, with his pet Cappy the Capybara, finishes picking fruit from the Tree of Knowledge. This fruit is Cardinal's favorite and the reason his sisters have adapted so quickly to the modern world. After collecting all the fruit, he waves at a gobsmacked Gabriel, gives her a kiss on the cheek, and departs. (I know the fruit hasn't produced any fruit since the Great War, and that Rizevim has the only preserved fruit. There's a reason for this.)

While his mother is sad that he won't allow her to sell the literally heavenly Tree of Knowledge pie, she respects his wishes and bakes a pie from the fruit for the family to enjoy whenever he brings it.

After all this, he heads to "The Chapel," his man cave, to give a slice to his friends and apprentice, an out-of-their-element cambion who has been healing people as they traveled the world. He took them under his wing after seeing they were homeless and unfamiliar with the city. They agreed and did their best to help him develop his healing magic in return. Now, they help him heal the injured and homeless whenever the chapel is "open."

This story follows a young man named Cardinal Law, a Nephilim (human-angel hybrid) who has endured a harrowing adventure. Even a year later, he is still grappling with the aftermath of his ordeal. One day, Cardinal is approached by ???, the pawn of ??? who, defying their king's wishes, reveals that their group has been watching him for some time.

They explain that after observing him, they concluded that pleading earnestly and offering compensation would yield the best results. They are also extremely desperate and want to be rid of their pain.

After questioning ??? about their affliction and examining them, Cardinal admits he is currently unable to break the curse. However, he can alleviate their pain and diminish the effects, allowing them to live more normally. Although he lacks a complete magical education, he believes he could eventually develop a spell to break the curse if they are willing to return for further help.

He eases their symptoms using Reversal: Restoration, gives them his contact information, and rather brusquely sends them on their way to tend to his next patient. They are bewildered by the contrast between his gruff demeanor and his kindness.

When they return to their king, ??? understandably upset, but understands the situation. Still, they are unwilling to allow a rogue exorcist/priest near their beloved bishop without supervision. As a result, they insist on arranging an appointment with Cardinal.

When everyone meets up, the King comes clean about the entire situation.

At this, Cardinal reveals that he had been aware he was being watched the whole time and mentions he had dropped out of high school right then, when they enacted their plan, just to piss them off, causing their knight to attack him. He handles it easily, and when they ask why an ex-priest or exorcist is so willing to heal a devil, he tells them he doesn't care about species and that he's just a regular guy who is good at healing magic.

??? and their peerage know he's full of shit.

This is the start of the end of the world, I guess?

• ??? mentions a prestigious all-girls school in Japan. While Cardinal doesn't particularly care, his mother believes this is an excellent opportunity for the sisters and decides to enroll them at Kuoh Academy in Japan…

Description: 6"7'. pale porcelain-like 'skin' with faint cracks, visible seams on finger joints, silver-white hair, white blood, empathetic, calm, views herself as a tool to serve the hunter, echoes of Maria's memories.


Previously referred to as the Doll, she is now a cursed tool and a familiar of Cardinal. She serves as a secondary blood reservoir, though hers is mysteriously pale. She can also act as a medium for his spells and cursed techniques. He primarily uses her for ideas, innovations, calculations, help with magic, and assistance for healing people in The Chapel. She also stores the knowledge of every spell Cardinal has obtained and can cast them via blood magic. While she is incapable of using his Cursed Techniques, the blood she stores is inherently harmful and can harm those it hits. In addition, her existence as a Cursed Tool, in close proximity to Cardinal, boosts the power of his Cursed Techniques.

A very pleasant person to be around.

Henriette and Violet Law

Description:


Violet and Henriette, the two daughters of Father Gascoigne, their lives were almost cut short, due to how unfair the Hunt usually is, however, they lived thanks to Cardinal. They are both worth a single pawn, but each has the blood of a Hunter and the potential to become an excellent warrior.

It's a good thing that they won't need any of that at Kuoh. A peaceful school life awaits!

- Aria is expected to be the next head of the Belphegor family due to her sheer talent and drive. She is rather straightforward and likes to lend a hand in any work she assigns but has decreed that she will be the one cooking for her peerage. She spent her childhood touring the human world to further develop her love of cooking, even picking up an accent from the time spent. She expects her peerage to train with her on a fixed schedule, and despite the harshness of it, she gives unending support, even spoiling them. Sometimes she can spoil her peerage too much, getting a little too handsy, and she would go further if they were comfortable with it. She plans to join the rating games in order to beat her aunt into the ground and force her to reveal the scandal of the king pieces, which she stumbled upon by accident, in order to better preserve the reputation of the family and her peerage, by getting ahead of the problem. While she may still become the next head of the family, she doesn't want to give up her dream of opening a restaurant and would welcome any support in her dream.

While she doesn't share her bishop's confidence in Cardinal's ability to heal her, she believes he would be a good ally and an even better contracted magician. -

Description: 5"5', pallid skin, red eyes, and black hair.


Skills & Innate Traits: Hero Descendant (Abe no Seimei), Horse-riding, Archery, Onmyoudo, Familiar Creation, Supernatural Luck, Divine Ancestry, Animal Communication, and Immense Magic Reserves.

Märchenschatz Snow White: A mostly equipment-based treasure manifesting a Magic Mirror. The Mirror is able to show answers and locations related to questions asked by the user, making it a potent divination tool so long as it is related to the present. In addition, the glass can be manipulated to create various weapons for the user and reflect attacks defensively. Rather than kill, the mirror can be used to place others in a state of suspended animation. Primary Emotional Fuel: Pride

- Kuniko is a member of the Tsuchimikado Clan, descendants of Abe no Seimei and the Northern Fujiwara. From the moment of birth, she has had immense magical reserves that rival the heads of the Five Principal Clans. However, she is marked not only by the blood of Kuzunoha but curses of the Emishi Tribes. Kuniko is cursed with constant pain caused by the lingering grudges and curses of various tribes labeled as Emishi in the ancient past. The people were given various negative characteristics in Shinto religious texts including distrustfulness, anger, only remembering the worst aspects of life, greed, blood drinking, and living in caves or nests. Historically, it is confirmed that they had many hunter gatherer and horse archer tribes which were opposed to the imperial capital and were demonized for this.

Various youkai are believed to be humans that were transformed into demons by collective fear or were born from their vengeance, with Kuniko being cursed to a similar fate due to being descended from those that were sent to 'govern' the area at the time of those conflicts. The Tsuchimikado and other clans themselves may have blood of these enemy tribes as well due to trade and political factors, which gives an alternative explanation for the curse, but the nature of Japan's supernatural community makes it so acknowledging this possibility is not beneficial in any means.

To deal with this, Kuniko uses a large amount of her magical power to prevent the curse from progressing as she is uncertain as to what kind of Youkai she would become. After obtaining the Marchenschatz, the curse's progression has been halted, freeing up much of her reserves. Kuniko's present goals include disrupting the current balance of power within Japan's native supernatural organizations, having made agreements with various Youkai to aide them in obtaining treasures sealed by the Five Principle families and potentially aiding in the release of Daiyoukai who make binding agreements to temper their activities.

In regard to her luck, she is the type of woman who will hit seven consecutive jackpots and, should she trip while walking, will have somehow evaded a bullet to the head.

While Kuniko isn't a jujutsu sorcerer, she recognized Cardinal's use of reversed cursed energy. Cardinal's confidence has given her hope that her curse will be broken. -

Description: 5"6', long purple hair, red eyes, slender, and athletic.


Skills & Innate Traits: Enhanced Strength and Durability, Combat Mastery, Flight, Battle Strategist, and Rune Magic.

- Astrid was… bored. In the age of man, there weren't many who had earned the right to call themselves a hero, which meant one thing. Layoffs. Yup. She was let go. Fired, Terminated. Which excited this once Valkyrie with the notion of freedom… She's not very useful outside fights. Though her beauty had caught the attention of many men. None particularly interested her, though. Her instincts as a Valkyrie were still strong and as sharp as a blade. In the human world, she stepped into the world of Modeling, as her looks were sufficient for that line of work. It wasn't long before her name was well-known and she began an acting career. Though that wasn't enough for her. And thus, she used her connections to summon a Devil. To summon you, to enjoy combat in Rating games, and or stray devil hunting under your command.

While she doesn't care about becoming a High-class devil and receiving a peerage of her own, her amazing performance in Rating Games and Aria's strict training and expectations has seen her rise to a Middle-class devil rather quickly. She is excited to participate in more Rating Games. -
