"Bitch, I bet I have more trust issues than you"

No idea why that's my first reaction to it. It's not exactly something to be proud of lol.

Got Covid a while back, put me out of commission for about a week and a half. I had all three shots though so my symptoms were of the "significant discomfort" and "Outright agony" variety instead of anything life-threatening (Though it definitely felt like it was at points).

It really messed with my chest, but the worst came a few weeks after recovery.

The Covid had stressed my immune system enough that I got RSV, and instead of my body being able to fight it off in a day or two I was put back in bed for another week.

Then I started to recover, only to find out that the RSV had distracted my immune system enough that I developed Pneumonia. Two more weeks and a course of awfully strong anti-biotics latter and I'm given the all clear to return to work, no more signs of infection.

So I go back, but I'm struggling a bit, losing my breath, end up red in the face and on the verge of collapse. So I go to the hospital and it turns out that my lungs have taken a lot of damage from the past bouts of illness, nothing that won't clear up but enough that I was basically told to rest for another week while my lungs healed the scarring.

All fine now but I feel like this year has it out for my lungs, never usually get sick at all so this has been my first extended period of illness in years.

Covid alone was scary enough, but I'd definitely have been hospitalised or received permanent lung damage had I have gotten all three at once.

At least Influenza didn't show up, but I feel like I'll probably end up getting something again before the year is out.

    Oh God, you too NoFunposter?

I thought I was alone feeling the same things after getting discharged from the hospital. In this case feeling weakened and sensitive enough to changes in my body.

    Fuck.

There's a reason I'm still wearing N95s at work despite what seems like 90% of the people in my town not bothering.

Okay that's not the real reason, the real reason is "COVID's still out there though" and having formed a habit such that "just keep wearing masks" is marginally less taxing than deciding to stop. But this is a good reason to add to my rhetorical repertoire.

Sadly it's hard for me to breath through masks.

I still wear them when I go out but I can't wear em for long. Or I start having asthma problems.

Me neither, as my breath has stupid amounts of humidity to it and I can't go faster than a slow walk using them. That and I am only running on 1.5 lungs since birth...

Congratulations, both of you, for actually being in the 'reasonable excuse' camp regarding that, and still making an effort anyway.

Unlike the dime store karens "oh no i cant breathe if i put this on for five minutes to go buy my cheap plastic tat".

I mean, I would be gleefully using a mask if I could, but between the fact that one of my lungs partially collapsed when I was born (so I've got 1.5 lungs instead of the usual 2), and my breath is humid enough that after a few hours it becomes waterlogged (as in you can see the condensation!)... yeah, it isn't pleasant by any means. I'm a tabletop gamer and know that rolling nat-1s is a lot easier than it looks (though, you wouldn't think I had nat-1s if you saw my dice rolls, as my brother outright stated that my dice rolls are statistically impossible (75% success rate with D8s), as a Force-on-Force game with a bunch of Frenchies gunning down Soviets can attest).

You might manage with a valved P100 or P99 if its ever absolutely necessary you stick one on.

Advantages: no humidity problem, you look like you escaped from a scifi movie, replaceable filters.

Disadvantages: you are only protecting yourself, you sound like you escaped from a scifi movie, they run like 60 bucks.

Sounds like fun. I'll have to look into it.

    -edit-

Though I believe I still have most of my lungs in use despite my acute asthma that triggers at the drop of the hat.

To summarise, "brain fog" is one of those things that sounds much less serious than it is. Imagine you get COVID-19 and you're now unable to remember what's on your calendar long enough to write an email agreeing to a meeting. Potentially forever. This really happens.

To help explain it a bit further; Essentially what happens is that the chemical structure of the brain changes a bit. Concentration, multitasking, and planning, commonly referred to as the core of what helps make modern humanity so successful, are commonly harmed unfortunately. What was, and should be, unconscious autonomous processes now require conscious-thought to function, which obviously is a bad thing. Now I could go into a 5 page rant about why this is terrifying, especially how wide-spread it is, but I'm not going to do that. Instead I am going to say that it is a bad thing, and yet another reason that when a new virus is running rampant, it is not a good idea to just throw your hands up and go "Meh, I'll get it anyways."

Been fucking lucky so far with my infection even with the triple-shots.
Don't have anything major, just have to lie on my back when in bed, the occasional glob of phlegm that thankfully isn't bloody anymore, constant low-level fever with the occasional headache/fever flare, and occasional taste/feel/smell of the Breath of Nurgle when I exhale.
Hopefully won't get worse, but it's been almost a week so who knows.

Sleeping's kinda tricky since my only blanket is a thick warm one so can't use it, so can't have the window open because I'd freeze, but when I sleep with it closed it's still around 24°C in the room when I wake up which isn't fun.

Its real fucking depressing, and a smidge infuriating, that so many people have just decided COVID is no big deal despite the numerous studies coming out showing how bad Long COVID is for you, the studies showing that numerous infections really mess up your body, and a bunch of similar shit. This pandemic broke me as someone in the medical field, and seeing the same sort of behavior crushes me man
