The writing of character interaction has definitely regressed. And now I'm sorely depressed.

Sigh.

I guess I'll stick with it until the end, but I guess it was wrong of me to expect more after they told me they were going to charge me a six figure number for the license fee for a single game for the series. I guess it was good I decided against buying the rights.

So far my biggest complaint is that they're still focusing on Jaune. Not Ruby, who's a title character, and who had two friends die and her sister be mutilated, but Jaune and his pain over losing his satellite love interest.

There's a lot of inconsistency in writing that I'm frustrated about. That they used some random small town, ass-end-of-nowhere blacksmith to put Pyrra's stuff on his stuff, somehow none of them has seen Jaune's hoodie before, Ruby's characterization deterioration, everyone holding idiot balls in the fight,

lack of build up to the finishing move, lack of a nickname for the move, no one even trying to fight until "guys, we have to hit it harder", everyone in the small town and the small town looking like 1600's China,

totally forgetting that Nora got an upgrade, the music no longer matching the tempo of the action, the "strategist" just being the one to say "you left, you right, you front", no sense of party roles in the fighting as if everyone is a DPS, Jaune still being a full on comedy routine,

there's a strange lack of consistency in the action's "impact" as well--the choreography doesn't show the difference between a hard hit and a soft hit--it is just "this hit does a shit load of damage" or "this hit doesn't do anything"... why does Ren going all out dual-wielding doesn't even scratch the thing, but a random toss of one blade causes it to fall on its ass?

The ground is still a one dimensional skin, which is very low quality compared to even other Japanese 3D animations that at least try to show as little of the ground as possible, which causes a very strange paradigm in that you see hyper detailed characters but seemingly unrendered backgrounds, which will be jarring

And... the focus on Jaune. Why is he even there? He contributes NOTHING to the team UNLESS we make every character on his team an idiot. The only reason why people should have deferred to him was because the strongest on the team did, but even that's gone! ARGH.
