I might be a 26 year old disaster, but I love classical music, opera, and Vincent Van Gogh was my favorite painter. Not only do I have a red tail Boa named Van Gogh, I have a rather accurate replica of Starry Night done by a woman in South Carolina.

The only art I can't appreciate is someone tapping a banana to the wall.

Thanks for your comment, and don't say that, you're not a disaster, you're someone who knows how to appreciate art. Most people only like drawings if they're excited or attractive.

Van Gogh is a good choice, although I prefer Pablo Picasso and Remedios Varo a little more.

A red boa? That sounds outlandish. Aren't those dangerous animals? By the way, have you ever painted? I have more paintings.

A Boa constrictor is one of the most popular pets for snake owners. Red Tailed merely means his tail has a red coloration then black. Boas make great pets as when bred and raised from captivity they are typically very calm and docile. They are very calm but also extremely curious about everything.

They only real problems with them as pets is adults average 5 to 10 feet, and live for about 30 years. Most only hit 6 to 7 feet and typically weigh about 20 to 30 pounds max.

I will walk around the house while cleaning his tank, greenery, hide etc with him wrapped around my lower body and the only major concern is don't let him wonder off my body. If you're wanting to own a snake for the first time I'd recommend a Ball Python, but if you've owned a few and want a friend to last get a Boa.

Remedios Varo is a great choice I always liked her Creation of the Birds painting. Picasso is obviously one of the greats but I never connected to his work as much.

Well, it's understandable if you don't like African or abstract art; many of his paintings won't be to your taste. Even so, Picasso is a great painter.

I see what you're saying about boas; it sounds curious. Most people say those animals are dangerous or only think about attacking, similar to how people disliked sharks after watching Jaws.

I didn't say i don't like Picasso, just that I don't connect much with his work. I don't have the talent for writing and painting, but I do sketch from time to time.

Don't say that. I'm sure you can learn to write and paint if you do your research. It's just a matter of reading and investigating; it's a matter of having the time. And it's okay if you can't connect with Picasso; don't worry.

Borges said it quite well; he once said that if you didn't like a book, no matter how much it was recommended to you, don't read it, read things you liked instead; it's the same with painting.

That phrase Borges said is undoubtedly beautiful; another phrase I liked is how he says that literature is nothing other than a directed dream.

Or another thing I remember was when he said that Tolkien was tedious to him and called Lord of the Rings The Brotherhood of the Rings, as if he had forgotten the name of the book.
