In the anime, there is no humor or art or cuteness, the characterization of the MC is changed, how people perceive her is different, the little intricate details that actually make it capable of being both interpreted as a serious attempt at the genre and a parody are lost. Being X, God and gods and the angels, don't really matter to the story other than a plot device. The comparative priorities are too skewed.
There's somethung tellimg of my piorities in a story when most people drop the anime due to its complicated and lacking story when Aco,pared to the source material and hideous character design (FUCKIN' FISH LIPS!), while I ditched it due to the piss poor "worldbuidling" and really goddamn dumb military ideas it started the first episode out on.
Well, I mean, it's anime, you have to accept a lot of things as possible, or else you can't even get passed the weird special effects and camera panning.
I'll readily acknowledge that the anime is off base in most regards, having just run through the manga (is it just ten scanslated chapters right now?)
The original form is better done - I just really like the aesthetic of the Being X scene from the first episode because it looks cool.
Also, on a fundamental level I quite like the concept of the whole thing.
'Strike Witches in wars between nations' is something I've rambled quite extensively about here, after all.
I feel like the way the anime represents Being X is more interesting than what I'm seeing from the manga interpretation, at least.
