KC, perhaps understandably in the otherwise noble pursuit of smut, really did not think very well about the logistics of the whole thing.
It's like, any one element, taken individually, could be fine and interesting and fit in somewhere in a setting; but then it's nothing *but* and then you look up and realize noone has any legs to stand on.
Unfortunate implications the author is perfectly okay with (or gets very angry about when anybody points 'me out) and tells all guest authors to be okay with it as well or else no story.
But yeah, the background is the worst part of MGE. Personally, if I were ever to make a story, I would get very picky and just take aspects of some of the descriptions of the monsters and just make an original world.
It's like the Pokegirl universe, imo. An interesting world, an interesting timeline, and an interesting society, completely marred by an overwhelming focus on the porn.
I mean, I like porn, but when it comes to world building, the porn is to be treated like a spice, not the main dish.
I don't really like pokegirls either (or 'poke' settings in general really) but i think it's still better as a setting wrt design, because it actually has an operating envelope.
The biggest problem i feel with MGE is that it's an *unstable equilibrium*.
Urist McAdventurer no. 4015709 can't go on adventures because mamono energy is everywhere, and he'd eventually get to a point of no return since there's apparently little to no way to dissolve it. He can't actually have sex with sexy monstergrils either because, again, maiasma. *The whole point of the setting undermines itself*.
