Maybe "Aegwynn quest"? ... or journey to the west meets warcraft (with trolls ofc)?
hmmm, maybe Disney? Most medieval looking movies could take place around the same time... Princesses are disappearing from the kingdoms and the parents, that's silly most of them don't have those, the regents put a bounty out to find out what happened to them/save them?
No offense to Xicree, but I dislike trolls from warcraft as an aggregated concept. I've thought about doing Aegwynn Quests, but I think there's so little known about her and her time period that I can only make similar concept quests of "Young Girl Endowed with Great Power". Not sure on the specifics of that, because I seem to have done that too much.
Disney is great, but with Kingdom Hearts exploring Disney settings like so, I feel rather inadequate. Also, I don't know, it's kind of hard to come up with a concept that works with Disney since there's so many choices of settings within Disney as a mega-setting.
Survival horror? PC wakes up in a mansion after falling asleep at home... Every time he falls asleep that is. With the damage appearing on his "real self" albeit smaller... Dying means they become a monster in their house?
Original setting where the humans have settled a place after fighting the native elves? PC decides whether to ignite the war again or find different flavours of peace...
I don't know the first thing about survival horror. Seems like a thing I should study a little, but probably not for a quest. Same for murder mystery... not that I couldn't or aren't interested, but not as a quest, I guess. Maybe as a story, but I just want to run a quest right now.
Yeah, I'm not so sure I want to make completely new settings. I might have a "this existing setting, but only broad strokes so I can have custom worldbuilding", but I don't think I want to make something from the ground up. I just don't have the time for it.
Magic is real and the law enforcement is not prepared for the crimes people commit with it. PC has to pull of heists before the police becomes better equiped to deal with them.
Ancient being wakes up and makes PC a servant to them, either go full monster or kill the master.
Or, since the ancient being is pretty much done with being the monster, serve them and reap the benefits?
Yeah, it's a bit obscure manga (humans from across the sea [and dangerous waterfalls] came to the elves' lands and settled there, a few hundred(?) years later a prince starts to want peace with them but is killed and another prince starts to investigate)
But what why when how?
