  • An addendum to Rule 3 regarding fan-translated works of things such as Web Novels has been made. Please see here for details.
  • The issue with logging in with email addresses has been resolved.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

I hope so as well, the worst part of everything is the travel costs. I'm spending 20-30$ per trip. :'(

Wow! Important position, it sounds like! They should totes pay you! ... Do you get some sweet loot, at least?
Medb

I wish they would pay me! Staffing AUSA gets you the ticket, a hotel room for the weekend(you have to share it with 3 others), a con tshirt, and food stipend.

Awwww... that sounds like they're making you the boss of the interns or something! Maybe use that opportunity to network? I know someone who started off like that in China who ended up being a MC/host of one of the events at a tech convention these days...

Most anime/video game cons are unpaid volunteer work(not the paxes). I've been thinking about starting a new convention at some point.

Starting a convention is a lot of work and a lot of money! It is very tough! But it's also possible! I wish you good luck whatever you do decide to do, because you'll learn a lot of the in's and outs, and what not to do, I guess!

I've been staffing conventions for 9 years already, doing 8+ conventions a year.
