There's reasons for it (your initial complaint,) half of which involve the porn industry in America being REALLY fucked up with a lot of prescription meds being misused by basically everybody. Antidepressants, stimulants, Viagra is actually really common because a lot of men in the professional industry have ED from all the *other* shit they're taking, the contracts are legitimately horrifying for the things you can be forced to perform, I can go on.
Well, the ED meds aren't a surprise, and to my understanding stimulants are a thing for performers just in general, but antidepressants sometimes cause suicidal behavior in the people who are SUPPOSED to be taking them. The sheer disregard for human life required to encourage unmonitored usage... cripes, what a mess.
