Questionable Questing

Chimera is just such a madwoman that can either stack debuffs after debuffs, or go full brute force with no guard, combo attacks, and sheer force.

While Dark Lady is an energy-absorbing bitch with a cheating barrier. Then for offense she's basically magical artillery.

Also, comparing psueod-legendaries and normal mons, a pseudo-legendary versus a final-stager generally has a 40 attributes vs 35 attribute points as a difference. Add in Ace for both of them, and 45 vs 40 is literally an 11% difference. A visible edge, but far from insurmountable, which fits for how simpler I'll be doing things and how certain mons are hyped up as especially stunning.

You are right though, I need to prune some of the entries. I'm putting the codex and stuff on another spoiler box and labeling it as something complicated, and crossing out some of the tamer merits.

Can't seem to find how one determines Priority (I know it's based on speed in some manner), and action order. Like, I THINK the first attack action goes off Speed+Maneuver+whatever bonuses a move has. But I dunno how much priority is decreased for the next attack action.

Do you know?

Yeah, the second attack occurs four ticks later - which is then modified by the move itself and further by the attack pattern. I think that's how we did a speed-blitz combo once, by having Extreme Speed as the second attack. It hit one tick later, because the second attack always goes second, so we had three attacks hitting within like two priority ticks. Unless something like Trick Room fucks with it.

Alright, I think that's most everything I need for mechanics. Time to see how well mantises fare.

Do you know where those successes in damages come from?
Seeing something like this for example..
- Fletchinder uses Razor Wind Judiciously! 13 rolls + 10 successes = 17 + 2 Hits vs 12 + 4 Dodge. Razor Wind hits, adds 3 Critical Dice! 17 rolls + 9 successes = 14 Damage vs 6 Defense.

I assume the 17 rolls are from Power's damage dice and whatever from powerups/moves/attack patterns. But where does that +9 successes in wounding come from? It's not critical dice, because there's only 3 critical dice.

I feel like I'm missing something important, because Razor Wind doesn't do additional successes in wounding or anything, and I see similar stuff in other battle logs.

STAB is 1/6 damage converted to auto-successes; Type Specialist brings that to 1/3. Though Razor Wind has changed since then - it's now a pretty neat power-up move.

I don't think it's solely same-type attack bonus either. It raises 1/6 (or 1/3 if you have Specialist). And that's 17 rolls and 9 successes? That's way more than 1/3. Definitely missing something about the mechanics.

Raising Kittens
It converts from total damage dice - so you've got 26 damage dice in total, and then 1/3 of that is converted to auto-successes, which is 8 and 2/3 - close enough to 9 - leaving 17 damage dice to be rolled.
