Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com.
Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
If you wish to change your username, please ask via conversation to tehelgee instead of asking via my profile. I'd like to not clutter it up with such requests.
which is neither, because perfectly even, perfectly straight-on orbits are more an anomaly than not, thus making 'half burnt, half frozen, tiny bit livable' unlikely) would have a generally very balmy (probably perpetually cloud covered from evaporation) area and a generally fucking frigid area opposite that, which would generate some unreal windspeeds
as air circulated around the planet to redistribute heat.
If life sprung up on such a planet, or a spess colony for some reason WASN'T mass-utilizing fusion power or something similarly, the winds would be so strong and so constant that wind power would serve basically all the power demands of a reasonable society
on top of the fact that it would still be eternally daytime for a large part of the habitable area of the planet. (Though daytime is probably only about as bright as twilight on earth, visibly - you'd need an infrared powered solar panel somehow, to exploit that)
And thus would be a status symbol -- "I'm so rich, I don't need to do anything?" Or more like the equivalent of pajama pants -- "I'm not going anywhere today, so I didn't bother getting dressed?"
A world like that would be two massive deserts, a hot desert of rock and sand, and a cold desert of rock and snow. In-between would be a band of temperate climate stretching across the planet's surface.
When you say that, tehelgee, are you jokingly declaring that the small portions permanently in day and in night would be deserts while the rest would be moderate?
It's equally likely, if not moreso, that the most sun-drenched part of the planet would be oceanic or an ultra-humid hothouse which supplies immense amounts of clouds for the rest of the planet instead of a desert.
1. There are skirts and dresses with wire frames that wouldn't flip, although you'd run the risk of taking off.
2. The ocean around the subsolar region wouldn't be a desert, and wouldn't supply clouds to the rest of the planet. It'd be where most of the planet's rainfall occurred, as the air rose and dumped the vast majority of its water.
