Questionable Questing

I try to avoid the *regular* inhalants, so no problems there.

I don't suppose you could rig up a giant periscope so that parts of Yahon would count as being "within sight of Mount Fuji," could you? It'd make my life a bit easier.

More specifically, please don't smuggle stuff into Yahon. We don't need nasty habits hurting our tiny populace.

But..uh... Hachijo-ojima is 178 miles south of Tokyo. The closest I can think of to getting Mt. Fuji in view would be having an embassy within view of Mt. Fuji, but that's...obviously not enough.

I meant a *really big periscope.*

(Yes I am aware Fuji is on the Pacific side while Yahon is in the Sea of Japan.)
Plotvitalnpc
Plotvitalnpc
Hm.
If only dual citizenship were allowed for US citizens, we could give you Yahonjin citizenship and a home there to trick out De's restrictions.
Hmm...maybe a special class of Yahonjin citizenship that doesn't claim precidence over you and can't be renounced, but DOES qualify you to act as a citizen?
Plotvitalnpc
Plotvitalnpc
Actually, Yahon is on the pacific side. There was an earlier version in the sea of Japan, but that changed when I redid the build slightly
It's in the middle of the Izu islands, near Hachijo-jima.

Wouldn't even need to do that - I could be a US citizen living abroad and register my permanent address as being in Yahon. I'd just lose my teleport-to-America privileges.
Plotvitalnpc

Kinda defeats the point of the US-Yakuza gun side of your smuggling nonsense idea from the build. Guns are...even less accessible to the civilians in Yahon than in Japan. There's not enough wilderness for hunting, so they don't get to own the basic hunting stuff Japanese people can.
Plotvitalnpc
Plotvitalnpc
Really, it kinda disarms your build's scthick.
...Maybe you have a residence of sorts in Yahon by way of your rice plantation, that somehow gets recognized by the USA alongside your actual home as part of the international tax pileup?
Plotvitalnpc
Plotvitalnpc
*shrugs*
For that it'd have to be /in/ Yahon, I guess.

The gun smuggling was just idle speculation - I wouldn't actually do that, as I'd be financially secure (well, secure enough) as a translator and/or educational freeloader.

I would totally smuggle in Oreos, though. The ones you get in Japan just aren't the same.
Plotvitalnpc
Plotvitalnpc
Oreo smuggling is fine. :p
If only you had the bookwriting one, though. I really like the "The Convenient Truth" book joke idea I edited into my last post in the CYOA thread.

Speaking of translation:
You're hired. Yotsugi-dono will need one while she learns more than tiny fragments of Japanese :p.
Even if the populace are bi or trilingual or something.
(Tri would be Hachijo-dialect (really a separate Japonic language), standard Japanese, and English)

With the exception of pretending that immortality wasn't an option for me, I did actually approach this one from the perspective of what I'd really pick. The bestseller thing didn't appeal to me, mostly because there was no actual ability conferred.

If there was a kanji that gave me the focus and willpower to be able to sit down for ten hours a day and *write* if I so chose, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.
pepperjack
pepperjack
Hell, I'd take *two* hours.
Plotvitalnpc
Plotvitalnpc
You could argue that Mai + the "live to 100 one" might be immortality.

Great! Hey, can I get a faculty position while I'm at it?

...can one be enrolled in a university and employed there at the same time?
