Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
If you wish to change your username, please ask via conversation to tehelgee instead of asking via my profile. I'd like to not clutter it up with such requests.
Situation update, a few days after the fact. One of those pipes is nicely plugged. Other? Technical issue. Waiting on a different sized plug to arrive, apparently.
Internet has been back for a while, so there's that. It's just that water lines to the washing machine being busted mean eeeeverything has to be turned off or it just... pours right on through.
No knobs anywhere along the way that go 'I'm gonna cut off the flow from here on until that section gets repaired, but let you keep using the rest' or anything like that. One thing breaks at any point and it's aaaaall broke.
I had a pipe break recently, but at least that was somehow easily isolated by luck even if one bathroom had to be barred from use. That's so much worse.
Yeah, it's why the responsive attempt at a fix once everything wasn't frozen mud down there was 'Okay, can we just plug it up and do without the washer?'
Unfortunate that that didn't work out, but nothing to be done about it.
Idle thought: 'Maybe zip ties can squeeze down on the pipe and keep the plug in, since it's flexible'.
It was worth a thought but in practice didn't need to even test with water to see that it wasn't gonna happen. Not with the force I and a tie can exert.
There's heavy duty zip ties that might do the job, they need to be ratcheted down and exert lots more pressure. There's also a type of epoxy with metal powder mixed in for repairs
I have noooo idea. But it's neat to know that apparently, instead of being buried somewhere in a list of hundreds of people we just aren't on it at all. For some reason.
Possibly this means that the plumber has a shortlist of today's work in his hand and is going to just show up in a couple hours! Doubtful though.
No accident, the car hasn't really been going farther than that grocery recently. And 'no' brakes might be a slight exaggeration... for now, but lately, you've suddenly got to really slam it down for them to start to work at all.
Seemed like it might've been a quick fix for air in the line, another DIY solution. Only, nothing resulted from it when we tried.
Basically been really freaking my brother out to drive it, and it's his car and he drives it so... no driving happening.
Which means a little more planning needs to go into grocery selection, since purchases get carried back, and one more item on the list of 'problems that need addressing eventually'.
Well, at least there was no accident. But problems you can't figure out are really annoying. At least if you discover what it is as something you can't deal with, you can leave it alone.
This case, it's annoying and you're constantly unsure. And any complications in a break is too important to risk "Okay, just need to step harder from now on".
Car works, thanks to neighbor's friend.
AC works again, low priority as that was because:
Got in touch with landlord's wife by pure chance, landlord has dementia and she handles things now, new contact info.
... But when the plumbing will be fixed? Only god knows that.
So I take it, no more worries on public bathrooms and other services? Give or take at a stretch, 'borrowing' other showers or worse; hacking at a 'hot tub' service?
Been a couple weeks and since if it's not one thing or another, washing machine has now decided that once it starts filling up for a load of laundry it will not stop on its own like it's supposed to once it reaches the right fill point.
