Aww... I had a post ready for it, but the thread closed before I could make it. It was about applying utilitarian metrics to the Catalog and having a Catalog protagonist, maybe Emiya Shirou, come to terms with utilizing the Catalog to achieve his or her ideals.

It seems like the Catalog would have to be altered in order to force the protag to pick the unsavory choices instead of white knighting and avoiding the purpose and spirit of the Catalog, which is mind controlling and enslavement of waifus to be sold off as merchandise. To sacrifice one waifu for the sake of more people, would be an interesting spin on the standard Catalog story.
