Questionable Questing

Is it meant to be played by writing out a story of your adventure after using the system to set up the scenario?

Exactly so. There's a point-buy system for features and characters, and the point limit is entirely up to the writer. You can give the main character superpowers of some sort, or leave them entirely dependent upon the eponymous waifus.

I believe that the meta-story of the Waifu Catalog is that it's a superdimensional slave trade company whose ultimate benefactors are superordinate beings the ground-level characters cannot fathom, and desire to be entertained.

Hmm might be a little too sociopathic for my tastes. The kinda stuff I might fap to right before bed, but not necessarily zone out and fantasize about living in all day then write about. But trying to create something with the same constraints that others are also trying to use is pretty cool. Might have to give it a try. I wonder how many people have done loli-focused ones already.

"too sociopathic" is pretty much right, even though it's about waifus, the people always just use it as a shitty excuse to get some power ups, which makes the entire system boring because almost all the stories that use it result in just a dozen chapters of setup and then the story is dropped before the payoff... should just be called 'power wank catalogue' instead

Yeah. I tried to describe it as impartially as I could, but I generally skip any "catalog" or "celestial forge" stories on sight. Just not for me.

The "choose your waifu economy" or w/e it's called that spawned that this is pretty good at setting up a story though. Not a great premise, but they usually last longer and are more interesting.

In your case, I guess it'd be one of those "you have 100 points, choose which of these one hundred lolis you want" or something

And then at most you get some powers and a setting. Then you're golden.

Waifu catalogue on the other hand is so... sterile.

As others said, mechanically speaking WC is basically just a "buy your waifu" CYOA that got expanded on to explain why ROB would give you waifus. It has a lot of side-stuff like various methods to handle the harem using mind control, corruption, addictive cooking etc... and there is methods to get Company Scrip to buy more stuff.

Premise has potential but a lot of stories devolve quite a bit... you would probably enjoy something like "Mokurokugatari" and "The Devil in the Details" at a glance? Not sure depends on whether you enjoy some hypno-fetishism with your lolis.

Might have to take a look at those. I certainly do like the lolis, but I try to stay open-minded to new things. I consider myself "loliflexible".
