Questionable Questing

Like when someone says the Isekai Meikyuu de Harem wo protagonist is a Kirito-looking guy, or whatever, you know? Different heights, shapes, ages, styles, but they're both Japanese with black hair and eyes, so apparently they are the same to those people.

Both are shit stories, shit morals, etc. but that's besides the point... I guess it's allowed because they're asians or something?

they do the same shit with the "yamato nadeshiko" types, even if they aren't even Japanese, it's just "oh, they have the same straight black hair, so I guess they're all one asian girl then" fffffff

I would say more that fictional characters tend to be more homogenous than RL people in general, if only because most people tend to have similar preference. Just like how most comic book superheroes are jacked (even if their powers are not physical in the first place), everyone in Uganda knows kung fu, etc.

one is a middle schooler and the other is an adult, they don't have the same personalities or similar capabilities, the only similarity they share is they are main characters who are asian... look, I think you're saying something rather different and not applicable here

No I am talking about the relevant topic, and my point is that to those not into the genre it does all look similar at a glance, and most people don't have the time to dig into the nuances of a genre that they care little for.

How is that relevant? It's not about people who are 'not into the genre'. People who can name both those two characters, one by series and the other by name, aren't 'not into the genre'.

Not necessarily, maybe it's just by cultural osmosis. Just like how I heard all about the supposed intricacies of the Snider cut of justice league because I have a Ssgt who loves to talk about it.

You're getting away from the point again; saying two asian guys of different ages, looks, styles look like the same person is still lowkey racist

And two superheroes with different power sets, motivations, backstory, side gigs, being lumped together just because they fight assholes is also overly generalizing. It just happens all the time.

It's overly generalized, but that doesn't mean it's not racism? Why are you being pedantic about this? It's like saying the us founders are all just the same white slaveowners, when they're different white slaveowners. It's still in part categorization by race and it still sucks.
