I would say that your vessel doesn't necessarily need to be one from the universe you're in at all, as long as it's got the capabilities of ships from that universe. Something like a different timeline's ship is probably fine.

As for the Xyston and all... well the intent was that you'd be able to get a Star Destroyer, and RAW you'd be able to get that one because it's not fuckhueg, just overpowered. Personally I agree that that seems insane, so I'd recommend having THE EYE veto that one if you don't want to deal with it in a story.

... and now I need to actually myself because I looked it up. The Xyston and Resurgent are actually noticeably larger than the classic Imperial I/II Star Destroyers, so I could see the size limit blocking them even with Upgrade.

Technically the story idea I'm working on would work better if I let the protagonist have a Xyston since he's attempting to take over the proto!first order to prepare the Disney!Galaxy for a yuuzhan vong invasion and they're honestly pretty fucked. I was just thinking it was a little outside the RAI.

And while around twice the size of the ImpStars the Resurgent and Xyston are still like an 1/8 the size of the Executor class which is blocked RAW and a thirdish the size of a Mandator which feels like it's probably blocked by RAI.
