• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • An addendum to Rule 3 regarding fan-translated works of things such as Web Novels has been made. Please see here for details.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Questionable Questing

You be more intrusive, and freak the thoughts the fuck out.
Either that or do it like a debate in your mind, list the pros and cons of your action, make up arguments for both sides, mostly to distract yourself and slowly focus away from the thoughs, making it seem silly, or forget the reason you wanted to do it in the first place.

no joke, I somehow did this once, I stared at a wall for about 20 mins, not moving, before suddenly moving startling the people who where watching me confused and concerned.

Hope this somewhat helps. It's not much. But it's what I got.

Process the suck.

In my experience, intrusive thoughts are driven by a great big pile of emotional suck sitting in the back of the mind. The mass generates pressure, and the pressure forces it into the foremind as intrusive thoughts.

Processing that emotional suck lowers the pressure. That reduces the intrusive thoughts... or, alternately, reduces the pressure on those thoughts to the point that they're not nearly as big a deal.

Everything in the mind has a reason to be there. Sometime it's broken, or twisted into shapes that are doing more harm than good, or it was evolved for a world much simpler than the one we live in now, but all of the bits are *trying* to help, even if some of them are doing it really, really badly.

If you can figure out what some of the bits are there for, sometimes you can figure out ways to twist them back so they work better for the life you actually have.

In my experience, the first and simplest way to process is just to lie down, as comfortable as you can get yourself, in the warm, quiet dark (or as close as you can get) and don't do anything, and just... let your brain think what it thinks. Don't worry about directing it, don't try to be productive, just let it spin... kind of like dreaming but you're awake.

Put a blanket between you and the world if it helps. (It helps me, sometimes.) If noises come out, let the noises come out.
