I guess I have to admit that despite not liking how it's so prevalent in web stories, I really like the concept of 'horror games' if it actually had rules that MC can't just overpower, though in this setting it's called 'fear god games', but anyway, usually horror games web stories has OPMC that breaks setting through force, so it's rare

That sounds hilarious and actually interesting

she's actually a villain and a liar holy shit but you know

some parts of it is kind of bad, but some parts of it is exceptionally good, especially when MC is "in the act"

If you think about it, MC is named "Su Yu" with a "Su", that's usually like, you know, in the urban genre, the surname of the girl who breaks up with the licking tanuki second generation rich and hires a bodyguard or is given one by her grandfather forcefully and is a domineering female company president with long legs covered in black silk and big breasts

I'm a little exasperated by the MC though, like, usually the villains need to be rewarded by a system to do truly evil things that make people feel pain in the soul like NTR

lmao bitch this MC does it for giggles

she acts all nice and cute in front of her artificial big brother, and then starts turning her "persona" into a murderous and bloodthirsty just because she thinks it'd be funny for big brother to have internal struggles and self-blame that he didn't teach her well and start self-doubting that he made a mistake somewhere and then finally betraying all his beliefs to "save" her

to be honest, I like it better when she was being green tea and white lotus, you know, but later on the story once she's part of the Su clan, she starts being increasing bratty, though it started earlier than this, and usually she has a reason to do it, but it's still kind of cringe in a villainous way, you know, not edgy, just, bratty

I can take edge, I enjoy edging, but bratty, eh

Okay, so later on in the story, hilariously, she has to be an undercover agent for a nonpowered extremist organization that found an ancient advanced civilization's machine that can cause people without spirit root to cultivate, and she's spying to get a key reagent for the machine, and the target is

lmao, someone who acts exactly like a web story's male harem protagonist (villain)

I kind of really like the backstory/setting of the story, you know, because it's really something unique in how it's built

lemme tell you about it, and you tell me what you think

It starts with an ancient xianxia civ, which faced destruction due to a top level war, so the top ten sects moved to a planet that they found that could support life and had spirit energy, they thought the only problem with the planet was that its spirit energy concentration is low, but when they arrived, they realized it was a "end of dharma"/"lacking of law",

because some cultivator broke through or drained the entire region of "dharma" to ascend.

However, at this point, they found that there's also another human race there on that planet, and because it's "end of dharma", they are a tech civ. So the xianxia civ oppressed/enslaved the tech civ, while letting them advance tech, because it might help

But while both cultivation and tech were advancing, some natives used tech to revolt by opening a portal to a negative universe, causing the entire planet to turn into a wh40k daemon world

So the 10 sects broke the world into several parts, one of which is where the story starts that looks like a modern world, while another is the ghost world

yet low spirit energy, end of conceptual law, and constant loss has caused the 10 sects to degrade, so they decided to shatter their sect heritage law weapons to replenish the dharma in the world, but what happened was that shards of conceptual laws have now ingrained in random human's dna, so people start awakening superpowers

But because this isn't really cultivating spirit and they only have one power, like in worm, it's called 'false cultivator' and there's less and less 'true cultivators' in the world, and because the daemon world part of the world settled down, ghosts are starting to appear more, more people are awakening superpowers, and more people are falling into rifts to the other world

so all I'm saying is that it's a reasonable explanation for multiple worlds traveling, people having superpowers, shitty ass cultivators existing in setting, and it's not a negima knock off
