I thought JD was the name of the male character in Heathers. The one mainly singing the song. You know, the totally toxic obsession/love with the girl, don't know her name.

If you regret letting Paul get over the drawback too soon, you could actually work that into a future arc.

Have Paul be so totally different in his way of using the Orange Light, even in comparison to the few other enlightened lanterns, that the Ophidian is utterly dissatisfied with them and starts zeroing in on Paul with increasing intensity.

Have her start off slow, actively looking through his eyes more often as opposed to the passive way she normally does.

Then have her start talking to him more. Instead of it mainly being when he calls on her, have it be increasingly unprompted.

Have her acting up in the Central Battery and concerning the Controllers and Dox with her behavior. Have her then insist Paul be by the battery.

Have her want him around more and more and her actually doing their merge thing without Paul prompting it more and more.

Have her start whispering in his head and even affecting his behavior to make him stay by her more often. Maybe even start blurring the lines between what he wants and what she wants. Sure, Enlightenment shouldn't make the possible but she IS the orange light.

The Ophidian is already a major part of Paul's soul. Have her start slipping more and more pieces of herself away from the battery and into his souls structure, so she can be closer to him.

Have her start leaving the battery and coiling up in his personal lantern. He convinces her to go back multiple times but she always comes back out again after increasingly short time periods.

Have it all climax at the point where her want for Paul goes full critical mass. She couldn't care less about the Controllers, other lanterns or even other desires.

For the first time in all time, the Ophidian has a desire that's all her own. The first mortal to ever wield her light without being becoming like the gnat. HER Lantern. HER AGENT ORANGE. HER PAUL.

She straight up abandons the Central Battery and Maltus and, instead of going to his personal lantern, she fully merges herself to Paul again. And she won't leave without a serious struggle this time.

Now that to me, sounds like a hell of an arc. Plus it will IGNITE the shipping wars anew. I can see the commenter section burning already.

I prefer to show the Ophidian as eldritch rather than simply as an enemy. I could have had her accept the SI's point about experiencing the wants of others and stay in his body as an observer...

And then over several episodes have her ramp up the avarice in everyone around him either deliberately to enable her to experience their desires or accidentally as the natural outcome of having the embodiment of avarice right next to you.

Though, I didn't mean turn the Ophidian into an enemy. I just meant have her hyperfixate on Paul to the point where she doesn't care about anything else.

She isn't capable of doing that. She can fixate on him and prefer him to other things, but all desires are part of her.
