So I dropped the video and found the written work, skipped to the end, and found out that it's still going like with 4x more content, but it's already at the end like, you know in a jrpg when they're at the final dungeon before reaching the part at the end where they kill god

basically, realized all the potential and good shit that was at the start was wasted, sad

It had a really nice worldview for a "real world China with Pokemon" thing, because the battling in an arena or contest part weren't really that big, it was more about using information disparity, like z-moves require being a chuunibyou, and making a name for MC as a researcher

but by the time I dropped it, it was kind of gross, MC being blackmailed, enemy always escaping, etc.

Like, you think it's supposed to feel good to read, and some parts of it does feel that way, but there's a powerlessness in the story that makes you feel like the world is too lawless to exist as it does, which is weird, but as you grow older, you feel there's an inherent correctness to that, but not that much

In the story, his teacher becomes his girlfriend, she's like 25 while he's 18, and I'm behind all of this, but then her best friend blackmails MC with his evil secret identity, and it's like you thought you had a chocolate cake, but there's a turd on it now.

Another instance is at the start of the story when old man with Tyranitar comes and kills MC's older brother's Pokemon,

but then the author keeps on saying how the old man is a commoner who started with nothing and he was oppressed by the rich and powerful, and that makes him justified in stealing that Tyranitar while killing the entire family of the educated elites who owned the egg. And then the author keeps trying to say how the poor are justified and righteous, while his MC is a rich second generation

MC's grandpa on mom's side is a regional pokemon professor, his older brother is a fire-type gym leader, his father is a bug-type gym leader, his mother is the head doctor and director of a hospital... and the narration, the plot points, etc. all keep on sympathizing with the poor, uneducated rabble while making anyone who has money, knowledge, or power out to be "inhuman"

except when the author realizes he can't do that with the MC or his family or his lovers, so the author doesn't say anything about them on when he reaches this topic about them.

Like you could feel the author biases from a mile away, and I tolerate it because all web stories from China are stained with this (writers aren't taught well, you can see)

I guess I just think this story is different from others because it's like the only one Pokemon isekai that actually takes advantage of MC's knowledge to go into the research field, rather than rehash the same boring battle sequences,

the competitive, rules-based battles are the least exciting part of Pokemon, ugh
