The issue with logging in with email addresses has been resolved.
Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com.
Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.
Currently, when viewing a thread in Reader Mode, selecting a chunk of text does not bring up the quote/reply tooltip.
This possibly makes sense for Quests, since you mostly want people responding directly to the latest threadmark rather than accidentally re-opening a months-old discussion...
Best guess: one guy screwed up the translation years ago ("coffee" vs "coffin"? "handle" > "mug" > "coffee"?) and everyone since then has been copying him. Now that meme - in the original Dawkinsian sense - has started to infect translation systems that have been built on or trained against the...
Huh. This is a weird rabbit hole... As far as I can tell, the translation of coffee as capulus is completely wrong; it should be something like "coffea" or "caffea" (per: caffeine). See for example:
* wiktionary: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/coffea#Synonyms
* this latin tutor...
"Capulus lo Vult"? Google suggests this means "the coffin wills it". Nani the fuck?
(Unless it's referring to the boutique insurance co. of the same name, which is... kinda morbid and hilarious. Kudos to whomsoever named that company.)
It also came up in at least one Implacable omake. (Which got me re-reading all 36 pages thereof, dammit.)
PS @ FirstSelector: you're still missing an omake :p
I suspect this may be a side-effect of the whole transfer-of-guardianship malarkey. Without a parent in the loop - or where the...
Wouldn't describe it as dehumanising per se, but it does come across as a statement of intent: that they're going to keep trying to force her onto the railway tracks of conventional Wards membership despite her explicit refusal to go that way.
The concept of "assuming the sale" comes to mind...
Actually I could imagine it working out fairly well. Remember that Taylor isn't just hostile to random Wards for funsies; she's rational enough to realise that they're not all Emma-grade monsters. She's just also realist enough to suspect that any friendships she makes will be immediately used...
Edit - Dammit, just spotted a missed opportunity: "sometimes heroism means following the orders of duly appointed authority... and sometimes it means throwing a tea party". They're even in the right damn city!
I mean, firstly, Weld is kinda uniquely suited to the vagrant lifestyle...
Real Steel
"You know, Director, when Phase first showed up, I was worried she'd be a bad influence. She'd make the environment toxic, sow discord and doubt, turn our young heroes away from heroism...
"You'll be pleased to know I don't worry about that any more."
"That's good to hear, Weld...
If I had an eris for every time I've read that fic and burst into manic laughter at your comment, I'd have... two eris. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it got me twice.
Go for it. I'm very glad it resonated for you :) (Although the image of Monoma waking up with Himiko looming over him was definitely its own reward here!)
I'm currently a bit too much of a mess to deliberately write stuff - medication issues - but I'll drop by Discord once I'm in a better...
"In fact, I would explicitly not have given this test to Class 1A. Can anyone guess why?"
After a moment's silence, a student raised her hand. "Um... because Jirou-san would have been able to hear your assistant coming too easily?"
Tanya raised an eyebrow. "A tactically astute answer - good...
Yeah, that was my bad. You had "Forsburg Museum" as "Frosburg" in your Worm fic, I absentmindedly clicked the Quote button to comment on the typo... then completely forgot until I realised that my post on Psylent's fic had three quotes rather than the intended two.:rolleyes::oops:
1) Would a centrally-drafted media communications policy count? They'd almost certainly have one, and I suspect it'd include wording to the effect of "communications with journalists need to go through us". For most people this would be harmless boilerplate, but in Taylor's case it would start...
It's good enough that I still end up re-reading it periodically - just finished one such. (I've already Liked everything Likeable in previous reads, so this is my only way to let you know that!)
Tanya: You know, you two really should get a room.
Violet: Wut
Visha: Wut
Tanya: Don't get me wrong, it's kinda adorable in a tsundere sort of way, but you would be much healthier if you stopped suppressing your desire for each other.
Violet:
Visha: o_O
Tanya: Now, I'm going to go get...
