Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com.
Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.

This sounds worryingly like it could turn into "if you don't like a fic, you can start bitching about some political topic and get it removed". Aside from that, though, it seems fair enough. I just think you need to be very careful to avoid putting the blame on the author where it rightfully...
It's not so much political fics as incidental political content in other fics. As Aleh says, "real current politics" could be interpreted to include basically anything in modern life, and it is not clear that the mods intend not to do so.
I'm talking about Beast's Lair and Altima of the Gates. He was a friend of mine, until he got pissy at me for refusing to kow-tow to him and obey him without question and stabbed me in the back.
I'm fairly sure I've mentioned that I run a forum on my CV, or at least in job interviews. I very carefully did not mention the name of said forum, or anything else that might allow them to find it and see the contents....
I would say "almost certainly yes, but likely not many which did so in a fundamental way". As in, lots probably have vague mentions of political stuff which would fit, but few if any go into it to a level which would make it impossible to fit if you wanted to.
This isn't what the admins seem...
I'm not even talking about getting political views out. If I was gonna do that, then I sure as hell wouldn't use modern political figures. It just encourages people to ignore the point you're really trying to make in favour of the more immediate one.
What I'm talking about is literally any fic...
I think this is a really awful and entirely unnecessary decision which makes me very uncomfortable about posting anything set in the modern era (or even the future) on this forum.
I think your "point" is absurd, but you're pretty obviously not gonna change your mind, so arguing with you about...
I'm really not seeing any "compromise" here, just swinging from one extreme (which failed) to the other. I cannot see how restricting content is going to help "build the support base", to me it just discourages people from posting stuff which is based around the modern era. Because you're gonna...
But the "disease" is the actual discussion. Trying to ban politics from fics is just plain impossible to implement in any reasonable way and ends up limiting people who aren't even interested in politics, just because of the nature of it.
All of which applied to the political discussion. I cannot see any evidence of problems with political content in fics. I think you're taking this considerably further than is necessary, and also cutting into the core purpose of the forum in a very negative manner.
But I'm not talking about...
Ugh, again, you're missing the point. I do not want people to have to have their fics edited by mods, I want people to be able to write whatever comes naturally.
Yeah, and that's their problem.
Yeah, but you'd deal with it by thread-banning me or whatever. Why can political stuff not be...
Yeah, this is the thing which really, really bothers me. Suppose I start writing a fic that has nothing to do with politics and, five chapters in, the direction of discussion naturally heads towards politics, do I have to either have the characters act unnaturally or delete the fic from the...
I don't see why this is should be the goal, though, honestly.
There are plenty of other things people can post which will wind others up. If someone posts a fic where Shirou brutally murders Sakura, I'm not gonna be happy about it. But, you're not going to just let me demand that the fic be...
Yes, but that's not the point. I'm not in any way endorsing anyone who tries to get around the "no discussion" rule by writing a fic that is designed to serve as a discussion thread. I'm talking about people who write good-faith fics which happen to contain political content.
That's...
Well, yeah, I get your point. I think it's unlikely to cause fights in most cases, though, and if it does then I guess the response should be the same as it would be to a fight caused by a fic which bashes certain characters. I.e., "in this context, they're characters in a story, if you don't...
The problem is that the presumption seems to be towards "you shouldn't post if you're not sure", rather than where it should be, which is "it's fine unless you're obviously just trying to circumvent the 'no discussion' rule".
