Not sure where I would meant to post a question like this, so I assume this is the correct thread. I keep forgetting to ask my doctor about this, so I figured I would ask here.

I am on an anti-depressant called Pristiq. the situation is: occasionally, I have stopped in the middle of doing something during the day, having completely forgotten whether I had taken my pill for the day. When this happens, should I take a pill, just in-case I haven't taken one yet, regardless of the fact that I may have taken one already? Or should I not, so that there is no chance of having taken 2 pills for the day, regardless of the chance of possibly missing a day?

My advice to you is get a phone, call your doctor and ask him/her.

There might be people on this site qualified to answer your question, but asking your doctor or a nurse is the better idea.

Mizzet is right.

I mean, I'm also on desvenlafaxine (a.k.a. Pristiq) and I've missed doses before; the worst that happened was a headache (which is much milder than the results of missing the other drug I'm on, amitryptiline). But we're probably on different dosages and everybody's different.

What I can recommend in good conscience is a) that you set up a dosette or similar system so you can immediately check in these sorts of cases (the packets I get have a dosette built-in in the form of days of the week listed on each blister; I do use a dosette for my amitryptiline, although the effects if I don't take it are glaringly obvious within a few hours), b) that you raise the matter with a medical professional (possibly now, but at the very least the next time you see one) and get them to give you a rule of thumb.

Pay attention next time, or set up some system to monitor these things.

Do not, under any circumstances, take another pill if you aren't sure you've taken one already. Those things are fucking up with your brain chemistry enough as it is, overdosing is something you definitely do NOT want to happen, especially on accident.

Personally, I have a pill box with sections for each day of the week so as to encounter your problem less often. Some other way to organize it might work better for you, though.

Just putting this here so that people no longer have to bump this thread.
I got myself a pillbox with sections for each day of the week.
Thanks for the help.

People can also let this thread die now.
