Y'all know that meme with Bart hitting Homer over the head with a chair while he's in the tub? Well I'm Homer, Bart is my muse, and the chair is story ideas. I already write too slowly to get a single idea down on paper before the next one hits, so I'm just going to start a list here. Every time I come up with something to add to one of the ideas, I'll add to its threadmarks.

Feel free to comment on what I put down. Kick the ideas around, borrow them, suggest stuff, whatever. If you make a suggestion I like, I might borrow it myself.

Idea 1: "Dueling Dungeons"

• As an alternative to outright war between different Earths in the multiverse, Earth Prime has created a tournament based on popular fantasy and science fiction RPGs.
  • 36 universes enter, 1 wins control over all of them.
• Teams of six are picked randomly from a pool of volunteers with experience in such games.
  • Teams have a name and a symbol that cannot include a color. Colors are assigned and changed on a per-match basis.
• Of the team, one person (one of the two main characters of the book) gets elected to be a Dungeon Master, and to create a challenge for a team of five people from alternate Earths to overcome.
  • The dungeon is built using a points budget for balance.
  • Rest areas, resupplies, and loot refund points.
  • Matches are televised and Dungeon Masters can earn bonus points from audience votes for making pleasing, cool, in-theme, shocking, engaging, or just crowd favorite dungeons.
  • The main character effectively designs the dungeon and mentors an artificial Dungeon Intelligence who actually runs it.
• The remaining 5 members create a party to challenge another team's dungeon (including the second main character).
• Teams earn Victory Points for defeating dungeon enemies, solving puzzles, and surviving traps (equal to the number of points used to create them). After the end of the round, another floor is added to the dungeon, and the team with the lowest running total of Victory Points is eliminated.
  • In matches where the outcome would result in an odd number afterwards, the highest-ranked team gets a bye round, and gets the eliminated team's victory points added to theirs.
