Demonic Destiny Disconnect

Prologue

The world was healing though still scarred. There was a thorn in its side still but the damage was finally being reversed.

To heal fully it would take time, for it had been twisted and broken, warped into the image that a supreme tyrant had deemed fitting. But the tyrant had finally been slain, and while the throne that was its ire continued to exist it was empty.

To truly free itself from these chains, to reach past this overextended age of gods, it would need a savior. But those that inhabited this world had long forgotten its plight.

So it would call out beyond, with however little power it had left within these bindings and summon an agent that could grant it this wish.

And so the weapon was drawn and the target was selected.

However, those involved had other plans in mind. They did not wish for the world's destiny to be decided by a slave to the world's whims.

Thus they interfered, bringing out a contingency and the agent was corrupted with the name of freedom.

Would it follow the path laid out before it or cut its own path through karma?

Let us follow their journey to find out.

She appeared in a white void, filled with endless fog, a realm between reality and fantasy.

It was like she was dreaming, but the question was how did she know that? She had never herself dreamt before, for what purpose would there be for a weapon to dream?

In front of her was what could only be called a demon. A tall dark purple skinned creature was before her, it was shaped like a man with six chiropteran wings, large pointed horns and flowing blond hair that went down to it's waist.

She was not afraid of this creature, she had felled many before her might, but she did not immediately attack.

While it would be a grand irony for a demon to summon her, the possibility remained that this could be her master. Or at least that's what her intuition told her. She did not feel the flow of memories that usually came upon being summoned, in fact, this entire situation was wrong. The wrong scenery, the wrong actors and a missing script.

She was broken from her reverie by the demon before her growling. No, not growling, it spoke in a deep and resonant voice. One that spoke like a god declaring orders from the heavens.

"So the world has chosen to interfere in the selection of the next ruler," he said. "Not unexpected. However, in your current state, you are far too constrained to complete such a goal."

"You know why I was summoned?," she asked immediately. A purpose, she needed to fulfill her purpose, but what was it? He said something about the next ruler and the world choosing her.

So was it the counterforce? That made sense, it was a natural function of the world to summon her, but she needed a target. For what was a weapon that couldn't be directed at an enemy?

He continued on ignoring her.

"I shall grant you one gift, it was meant for the one the great will had chosen as its representative, but they have already been accommodated to become a Nahobino," he stated.

"What are you talking about?," She asked again, a slight annoyance creeping into her voice. She needed answers, she needed something to do, not just to stand around and be lectured at by this creature. "If you summoned me here what is it that you want? I just want to do my job."

"The answers you seek shall be found on your journey, I am here merely to break the chains you have to your master," the being before her replied.

"Why would I want-" she began before being cut off.

His eyes flashed, and she found herself paralyzed, unable to move. An invisible force pausing her actions. Something floated towards her from within the demon's palm. It seemed to be a creature of some sort, a type of insect?

A small eel like thing, but it was armored in a sense with metallic plating over its body. Its small metal eyes stared at her with intent, while its flexible rope like limbs were writhing and reaching towards her. It swam through the air like it was water, seeking her out. Within seconds that felt like an eternity, it was in front of her chest and it dove into her flesh.

It didn't hurt, at least not at first but it became apparent what the creature was doing. It was integrating itself into her body, into her spiritual core to the point that the line between herself and the creature was getting blurrier and blurrier.

Her skin suddenly burned, and her nerves felt every sensation one could think of, pleasure, pain, heat, and cold as if they were running diagnostics on whether she could feel at all. The world exploded into color and she heard every noise one could imagine.

Then it suddenly stopped, the surroundings turned from white to black as everything began to fade away. She found herself moving again, collapsing into a broken heap.

The world then pulled her again, completing the summons it had started.

"Farewell and welcome to the world, my newly born demi fiend," the figure said as she phased into the next land.

Author's Note:
Hopefully I communicated what I could well enough.

A servant was given a Magatama and transformed.
I'll try to follow up soon but no promises

Chapter 1
Demonic Destiny Disconnect

Chapter 1

She dreamed.

For as unusual as it was for her, what else could she do but dream at this point.

She saw many faces, that of the creator, that of the destroyer and those of her companions throughout her time in the mortal world.

Memories of her "life", if you could even call it one, flashing through her mind.

There were often images of bloodshed and times spent in battlefields. For it was natural that she'd be in those considering her existence.

But there was a great time spent in peace, where her duty had been fulfilled and she waited for the next time she would be called upon.

It would be a lie to say she didn't enjoy the former, but it would also be a lie to say the latter was unpleasant to her.

This duality defined her. A weapon of peace, a blade to end bloodshed but at the same time drown the world in it.

A weapon of the gods that in time served the world itself.

Or at least that's what she was.

What she was now, was a mystery to all but the devil that damned her.

The last thing she saw was his face once more.

The monstrous visage was arranged in something that didn't fit, contentment.

She awoke to find herself surrounded by ruins and sand.

Well, to be precise she found herself in what looked like a modern city that had collapsed in on itself. That had somehow met with a great desert.

As if a dozen sandstorms had come to ravage it out if the aether.

Alertness came to her rapidly, but something felt off.

The memories of her meeting with that creature rushed to her, and she immediately focused in on herself. She felt for the parasite that latched onto her, the one that invaded her spiritual core only to find that she could feel it on a deeper level. The creature resided in this body's heart or rather close to it she felt. Overlapping with it, integrating into it irrevocably. To remove the creature would be to terminate herself.

As she internally examined her condition something strange was noticed. There was no other way to put it than that she felt alive.

Not in the way that she experienced when summoned as a servant, but in a much more primal way. She felt like she did in her original life with no rejection from the world, in fact, she felt no connection to the world at all.

It seemed the creature inside her had usurped her contract with the world and incarnated her somehow. But for what purpose?

The figure that spoke to her said it would break the chains she had to her master. Was this what it meant?

If her master had no will, then she had no purpose.

That was unacceptable. She needed a reason, she needed a target.

She needed-

No.

She couldn't spiral down on herself like this. She couldn't fall apart at such a change, she needed to move forward.

Even if she didn't have the knowledge the world was supposed to grant her, she would continue on.

She opened her eyes once more and began to explore the ruins she found herself in.

Only to immediately notice something concerning once more.

She was in the shadow of a skyscraper, but light surrounded her all the same.

She looked at her hands to see they had been turned pitch black and were covered with glowing white lines.

The lines spread throughout her body, akin to magic circuits by her recollection but different somehow.

They didn't burn, instead, the energy that she could feel circulating through them felt as natural to her as this body's own heartbeat or breathing.

This was strange though, as a servant her body would naturally circulate magical energy but it did so in a much more subdued manner.

Was it a change in quality? Or perhaps quantity?

It must have been the work of that creature that had merged itself with her.

But if so what else did it change?

She inspected herself further.

As she felt for changes she found her body was mostly the same.

Except for a major addition. When she felt towards her face she found a small horn jutting out of her forehead.

She looked around and found through the reflection of herself on a window of a falling apart skyscraper. She was right there in the mirror image but different.

Not in the sense of looking at a funhouse mirror but in the sense she had changed.

It was the human guise she had become accustomed to during her summons with some modifications.

The aforementioned white lines flowed over her body through her skin.

Like a mix between a full body magic circle and a second set of nerves that glowed.

Her hair had gone white and her skin had turned pure black. The small black horn that was on her forehead was the biggest change beyond that.

It was another thing to investigate later.

On a physical and spiritual level she truly was altered. But what about her abilities?

As long as she retained her power, she could handle anything.

She was about to turn inward again when her thoughts were interrupted.

She heard a haggard groaning in the distance. Several voices that conveyed the agony of their existence.

She looked around the corner of the street and saw them,

Gemataneous green creatures were crawling, sliding their mass through the remains of the city.

As they came closer she began to make out what they were saying.

"Mag.. magatsuhi…. need more … Magatsuhi," was the chorus of the foul creatures.

They were eying her as the spoke, dragging their flesh towards her in pursuit.

It was a pathetic sight but pity did not form in her heart.

These were aggressors, they had to be eliminated, it was that simple.

Regardless of the changes to her body, as long as she was able she would fight until the bitter end.

Not that she would need to, given how weak these creatures seemed.

She focused on her right arm and to her relief it obeyed her command. It transformed into a blade from the elbow down.

As one of the slimes suddenly accelerated and lunged towards her, she slashed with her blade arm tearing off some of the creature's flesh in a glancing blow.

The creature recoiled just as rapidly as it assaulted, or not to be followed up by its two brethren mirroring its actions.

'They seem pretty low on self preservation, trying to overwhelm me with numbers', she thought. 'But it's no matter, I've fought armies since my creation. Let's finish this quickly.'

She focused again on her arm. Brahmastra, a favored form of hers to borrow, a weapon often used alongside her by that old man who wielded her so long ago.

She tried to will her arm to take on its abilities and form, but found it refused.

In her stupor at failing the slimes had entered her guard.

Quickly catching herself she did what came naturally to her, slaughter the opposition.

She rapidly slashed again, wildly this time and haphazardly.

She reduced the creatures to cutlets of viscous flesh.

Was it fear she felt that made her lash out like a wounded beast or was it something else?

She almost turned to walk away in contemplation when she saw the creatures dissolve in glowing red particles.

The creature within her, the second core reacted. There was a tightening in her chest and the particles rapidly gathered into her chest.

She as absorbing the energy from them, the very essence that made them up.

It was a familiar feeling yet different, much like many things since she'd awoken.

This was like when she absorbed the essence from weapons to take on their form and powers.

Did that mean she could take on the appearance and abilities of those foul creatures?

She focused on her hand again and tried to transform it into the slime. The sensation she felt was… weakness.

Like she was vulnerable to everything.

She didn't seem to transform into a replica of the slime but instead seemed to be channeling its essence. A weak essence but its essence all the same.

'This is rather unpleasant,' she thought as she canceled her focus and reverted her arm to normal. 'But is this all I'm left with? Channeling the essence of slain foes?'

That would be... less than optimal at the moment. It would be useful, inevitably it would be a great boon depending on what she overcame but for now, her library of essence was barren barring that of the slimes she slain.

She needed to find a weapon. She needed to see if she could still use her true abilities.

So she wandered onward through the desert city to find answers and hopefully purpose once more.
