Sleet is slamming onto the roof of this Ford Fiesta harder than I've ever seen, but I hardly notice it as I'm flying down the county highway. I didn't even have time to buckle up before I jumped in the car, not letting up from the gas pedal.

My brake line could very well be broken, but I won't have even a moment to check it at this point. That's a Future Me problem, Current Me is just trying to get us the hell out of here.

It's a flat, straight highway, no one around at 3 in the morning.
