Inside of an unknown station, a hissing noise was heard as a single capsule opened, while the alarms blared throughout the facility. Within the opened capsule sat an unconscious young boy around 15 or 16 years old, wearing a blue plugsuit with multiple cables placed on his back; stirring from the disturbance, the boy opened his crimson eyes as he groaned in pain... Right before he yelled in anguish as the cables disconnected itself from his back, causing him to fall into the floor with a audible 'thud'.

Standing on his knees and hand, the boy rapidly panted, struggling to breathe the air. After a minute or two - during which he hugged himself, thinking it would help - his panting ceased, and he began to breathe normally.

If there had been any people around the lab, they would be curious from seeing his crimson eyes turn brown.

The cyan-haired boy shakily stood up, taking in his surroundings with a confused expression. The room itself was a mess, papers strewn around the floor, many structure looked damaged, and there are scorch marks around the room, showing evidence that there had been a terrible battle.

Well...if the number of dead bodies wasn't a dead giveaway, then he didn't know what was. Huh; dead bodies, dead giveaway...that was funny. Why was it funny? Why did he find that funny?.

"W-what happened here?" he asked himself as he looked around the desolate facility. "Where is this place...?" He brought a hand up to his head, trying to get his brain going, but it was all for naught; he didn't even know who hewas. "Damn it, I can't remember anything." He sighed with frustration, wondering what to do next.

Suddenly, a woman appeared out of nowhere right behind him, causing him to turn around and stare at her in surprise.

To be honest, if the boy hadn't been distracted from the situation, he would've noticed that the woman, despite what she was wearing, was beautiful in her own right, with snowy-blue hair that flowed all the way to her back and ocean-blue eyes. Really, if it weren't for the fact that she was wearing white armor that covered her torso, along with gauntlets, leggings and a helmet that partially covered her face, then he would've been VERY distracted by her chest.

Instead, he stared at her warily.

"Who in the blaze are you?" The boy asked her suspiciously, slowly step away from her.

The woman stared at him emotionless.

"I...am Cassiel...Archangel...of Solitude..." She introduce herself before she summoned a strange looking staff that is as long as her; "Delta...I came...to disposed...of you..."

"Delta? Is that my name?" Delta murmured to himself, thinking about his identity before he realized what she had just said, making him glared at her, "And what do you mean you're here to disposed of me?"

"You are...just like me...a Evaloid..." She response to his demand; "But you...have awoken...before the mind control...was complete..." Delta stared at her in confusions.

"Evaloid... mind control!?" He yelled in surprised before angrily look at her, "What did you do to me!?" He angrily demanded her as he clenched his fist in anger.

Cassiel says nothing for just a few second, right before she raised her staff and struck Delta with a lighting bolt coming from her staff, earning a yelp of pain from him as she slowly float toward him.

"Defective...must be...disposed of..." She told him as she float toward him, who stood up on, his knee as he stared at her, unable to think of what to do.

That is until he realize he's standing next to one of the death body... which was a soldier to add it.

"I doubt this guy need this anymore." Murmured Delta as he pick a rifle and a pistol before standing up toward her while pointing a gun toward her.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!" He yelled as he quickly fire at her in rapid succession, shocking her as she barely raised her AT Field. Immediately after that, the cyan haired boy quickly turned and run away into a door just behind him.

After Delta ran for what seemed like forever, he had lost the strange woman. Hopefully. He stopped, resting his hands on his knees while gasping for air. It was a good opportunity for him to take some mental inventory. Namely: everything that was happening.

"Defective? What did she mean by that?" he murmured to himself, looking at his surroundings with a wondrous expression. His memory, jumbled as it was, lent the entire facility - marred by battle though it was - an exotic, almost dangerous quality. If nothing else, he knew that he had to escape. "Gotta get out of this place." Everything that had happened thus far only cemented the possibility of there being another fight. Shrugging with trepidation, he raised his newfound rifle and started walking, eyes open for anything hostile.

For the next few minutes, the only sound emanating through the air were Delta's footsteps as he kept marching through the corridor. A strange vapor poured from some nearby pipes, leaking from the broken tubes; were it not for the 'Flammable' warning signs on the walls, he would have though it was simple steam. He continued on, hoping that there was no danger.

The silence continued, and Delta was starting to feel paranoid. Down another corridor, and there were more signs of battle. There should have been more people...and why did heknow that? Guards, patrols, this place should have been crawling with them. Yet, aside from the woman, he hadn't encountered another soul at all.

"Something is wrong here," Delta said quietly. "What happened to this place? Where is everyone?" Sighing with frustration, Delta took a look at the rifle he was holding. His brown eyes narrowed, realizing the weapon was an assault rifle, painted white with various black parts, obviously customized. The handle and grip were fashioned to aid with quicker and steadier aiming, specially contoured so that the rifle was easier to turn. The slim optic had different zoom magnifications, and the stock was made of a surprisingly light yet sturdy material that reduced--

He suddenly paused, blinking in confusion.

How...how did he know so much about the weapon? The details had effortlessly come to mind; had he been a soldier? Had he worked in this place? Once again, the murky fog that was his memory was no help.

"Ugh, I wish I had something that would help me..."

Immediately after he said that, a strange collection of figures (the proper term appeared like crystal in his mind, it was a HUD, heads-up display) appeared in his vision, invisible to all but him (how did he know these things?). "Huh?" On the bottom-right corner of his eyesight, there were two numbers separated by two rectangles, with the phrase 'XR-2' on to of them. In the upper-left corner, there was some sort of mini-map that displayed his current position; a circular ring surrounded a blue triangle (that was Delta himself...HOW DID HE KNOW THESE THINGS?!), confirming its nature as a motion sensor. Finally, in the bottom-left corner, there were two empty slots.

"Whoa. Trippy," murmured Delta, slightly awestruck as a little smile came to his face. He looked around, marveling at the seamless movement of the HUD, before continuing down the corridor. "So," he said aloud to himself. "My name is apparently Delta. Everything around here is screwed up. There's a woman trying to kill me. I have access to helpful knowledge and gadgets...but I don't know who I am." All told...it could've been worse.

Once he got out of this facility, he could figure out what to do next.

Unfortunately, that was easier said than done.

Not even a minute later, Delta's motion sensor detected something up ahead, represented by a single red dot moving back and forth. Frowning, he slowed his pace, prioritizing caution for the time being. Eventually, he neared the intersecting hallways ahead, and found the source: a one-eyed sentry, humanoid in form. It moved in an oddly repetitive manner (it's on patrol, whispered his mind), its arms wielding a different rifle than the one he possessed. Just one. Only one...can I take it? It was alone, he had firepower, he was confident in his own abilities (and wasn't that something to ponder, who in the world was he?!). I can take it. What could possibly go wrong?

Then it spotted him, and shit proceeded to go south in a real damn hurry.

Gunfire suddenly erupted from what seemed like everywhere. A blaring alarm sounded, flashing the hallway with an ominous red glow. Grimacing, Delta took off running, shooting down any sentry that got in his way. Oh yes, more than one; they were practically crawling out of the ductwork! Where had they all come from?!

The black, cyclopean sentries weren't his only problems, either: odd, drill-shaped robots emerged from the walls, ceiling, and floor (infantry impediments, with mobile capabilities); drones shaped like butterflies hovered all around, their wings bearing odd patterns (disorientation of the senses, for crowd control); wall-mounted turrets, with rapidly-spinning barrels (...okay, those were easy to remember). The cyan-haired boy fired shot after shot, disabling his adversaries.

Bullets tore through the air, barely missing him (no, they're not missing, I'm dodging, how was he doing all of this?!). Delta kept sprinting as fast he could, turning around another corner. Skidding to a halt in front of a pair of secure doors, he turned around, firing at the sentries behind him; with his free hand, he pounded the control panel, prompting the doors to fly open. As he retreated backwards, he fired upon the panel on the other side (emergency fail-safes will be triggered); shattered electronics sprayed and sparked, and the doors slammed shut.

At long last, he allowed himself to catch a breath. "Did...did I make it?"

Delta looked around, trying to figure out where he was; the humid air and thick foliage indicated a jungle of some kind, but most of the features were shrouded in the darkness of night. Were it not for the moon, he would have been a sitting duck. In the distance, a bridge stretched over a river; he could vaguely hear the faint roar of a waterfall. "...don't have any better ideas."

Unfortunately, fate was not inclined to be kind to him.

As Delta took off towards the bridge, a large shadow loomed from above. The cyan-haired boy skidded to a stop, barely avoiding the figure crashing into the ground. It unfurled, and its true size was made evident: forty feet tall, the golem clutched a massive hammer, which it carried with relative ease. "...great." Detla warily raised his rifle, taking aim at the mechanical monstrosity. "Just great." He couldn't really determine any weak spots in the dark, so he decided to play it safe and let the giant sentry make the first move. "Come on...come on..."

The golem let loose a metallic roar, raising its weapon high.

SMASH!

Delta barely dove to the side in time to avoid the hammer, its head crashing at high speed into the concrete-covered ground around the facility. He fired at the golem, moving as quickly towards the bridge as he could--

Delta's inexplicable instincts suddenly screamed. Scowling, the boy backflipped away from the bridge, mere moments before a massive hand crashed into it. With a shriek of tearing metal, the entire structure collapsed into the waters of the roaring river, brought down by the titanic limb. Another hand, clawed and menacing, reached over the edge, swiping at Delta and the golem.

The cyan-haired boy barely managed to roll underneath the massive limb.

The golem was not so lucky. Cybernetics and expensive electronics sparked, and the sheer force of the collision shattered the forty-foot sentry.

The cyan-haired boy looked warily at the claw, eyes widening as the owner of said appendage rose from the river...and rose...and rose. "...oh." Standing at two-hundred feet tall, the massive mecha loomed ominously in the darkness of the night; the light of the moon was barely enough to illuminate the giant's red armor, but the green details on its torso glowed with an eerie luminescence. "Oh..." The bulky, ornamental head stared at him, its four eyes - three green, one orange - shining with a dreadful light. Although the right arm was covered by a shoulder pylon of some sort, the left arm looked less organic, almost like a prosthetic. The mechanical claw, looking wickedly sharp, was proof enough. "...this might be a problem..."

Silence reigned supreme as the two stared at each other, for what seemed like minutes. In all honesty, Delta didn't want to antagonize the titanic behemoth.

Unfortunately, that decision was made for him. The red mecha seemed to glare, raising its right arm.

"Yep, this is definitely a problem!" Delta's legs pumped as hard as they could, running for the ruins of the bridge with all speed. Right now, he had only one thought: run away.

A massive roar rumbled through the night sky, and the red mecha turned to pursue the cyan-haired boy. With a desperate leap, Delta soared into the air, knowing he was either going to make it to the other side...or plunge into the roaring river below.

Honestly, even the second outcome would be an improvement.
