Exalted - Cosmic Dragon Homebrew [Exalted/DxD] (DEAD)

This is a thread for homebrewed Exalted stuff from my quest "Trials of the God-Harem King". Only I can post here: if you want to discuss the materials here, contact me via PM or in the main thread.

 

The Radiant Dragon, The Light of Supremacy

The Red Dragon Emperor, The Crimson Dragon Overlord, The Sovereign Of The Radiant Scales


On the subject of the being widely know as Cosmic Dragon:

The Cosmic Dragon isn't a Primordial, a Yozi or one of those new beings that call themselves Devil-Tigers.

He is not better or inferior. He is different.

I can't stress this enough. To try to understand it by using the aforementioned beings as comparison is to be mislead and to invite disaster upon the perpetrator. Furthermore it is considered a great crime to compare the Radiant Dragon to what are essentially his greatest enemies, closely followed by the Raksha and the Evil Dragons.

This may change in the eventuality the Shinning Sovereign manages to redeem one to his cause, but until then it is not the case.

However, while being different the Red Dragon Emperor is also similar in some ways to a Yozi and a Devil-Tiger.

The genesis of the Light of Supremacy lies in three elements:
-The inextinguishable potential of the Solar Exaltation, that combines the boundless genius of the Great Maker Autochthon and the intrinsic perfection of the Unconquered Sun, capable of surpassing his own limits;
-What used to be Boosted Gear, one of the thirteen Longinus created by the God of the Bible to chain the soul of what was Ddraig, one of the two Heavenly Dragons.
-The concept-filled essence of Ophis, the Infinite, and Great Red, the Dream.

All three elements worked together to give birth to the Radiant Dragon, who used known elements and themes from two vastly different worlds to fashion his own existence.

This is way he is different but also similar.

What I am going to pen is the truth as far as we are aware of it. That is, if the "truth" that the Radiant Dragon is can even be understood at all.

But if someone can, incarnate, I place my hope in the fact it would be you.

First Radiant Dragon Excellency - Essence Overwhelming

The Radiant Dragon takes pride in his supremacy above all beings. He enjoys freedom and strives to reach perfection in everything he tries, yet his power is tempered and focused by his immense compassion. The Red Dragon Emperor strives for justice in his words and deeds, unleashing his most terrible wrath only in defense of himself and his allies.

By the weight of his immense charisma, the Sovereign of the Radiant Scales attracts power of all sorts to himself. Sorcerous knowledge and material wealth is irresistible to him, yet he covets beautiful maidens most highly of all. He will never fail to defend his flight from danger, whether by terrifying their foes into retreat or purging them with talon and flame. But to those he is most deeply enamored of he shares the gift of his impossible might, that they might be safe and strong even when he is not near.

This excellency can always be used to perform actions which aid or defend positive intimacies possessed by the character. It can also be used for inspiring intimacies towards the character in others and punish those he deem deserving. It can never be used when the character acts against the subjects of his positive intimacies, when he lies and when he acts in a unfair way.

Second Radiant Dragon Excellency - Essence Triumphant

Purchase of this Charm expands an Exalt's capacity to wield the First Excellency, allowing her to add successes in lieu of or in addition to adding dice. Every bonus success added this way counts as two bonus dice toward the maximum bonus the Charm may add, like a Combo of the First and Second Solar Excellencies. The addition of successes in all other ways uses the same rules as the Second Excellency of the Lawgivers (see Exalted, p. 184).

Third Radiant Dragon Excellency - Essence Defiant

Unlike the Yozi the Radiant Dragon understands failure, for he was once a simple human. Yet, he fought against his fate through unwavering determination and ingenuity and won. An Exalt's player can invoke this Charm after making a stunt-enhanced roll that can be enhanced by the First Radiant Dragon Excellency: remove up to (Stunt Rating ) of the individual dice results and roll them again, applying the second result if the Exalt prefers it. Applied to a static value, this allows the Exalt to increase his effective (Attribute+Ability) by (Stunt Rating +1). This Charm can never be used together with the First and Second Radiant Dragon Excellency.

A successful stunt allows the Exalt to recover one Compassion channel in addition to the normal stunt rewards, but only if he channeled Compassion on at least one stunted action. In addition, if within (Essence) x10 yards from the Exalt there are people that are subjects of a positive intimacy, he can forego the additional reward to allow those people to receive the normal reward for the stunt too.

Radiant Dragon's drawback: the strength of the Radiant Dragon is tied intimately to the well-being of his flight. If the Infernal takes an action that goes against the motivation of any character to whom he has an intimacy of love, he loses the benefits of this charm for the rest of the day.

Radiant Dragon Inevitability Technique

Whenever an Exalt activates the First Radiant Dragon Excellency to improve a rolled action, she may pay an additional Willpower to lower the enhanced action's target number to 6. This benefit is not cumulative with other effects that reduce target number. The Shaping effect of this Charm warps reality as a whole rather than any individual target; the improved Excellency use does not itself become a Shaping effect. Exalts with Essence 7+ no longer need to spend Willpower to benefit from this Charm; such characters automatically drop the target number of rolled actions to 6 whenever they use the Excellency.

Effortless Radiant Dragon Dominance

This Charm may be purchased once for each version of Radiant Dragon Excellency the character knows. Each iteration of Effortless Radiant Dragon Dominance triggers whenever the Exalt activates its prerequisite, cumulatively reducing the subsequent cost to do so in the scene by one mote, to a minimum cost of zero motes. For example, if an Exalt uses the First Excellency to add three dice to a roll, this costs three motes. The second use of that Charm in the scene to add another three dice to an action costs only two motes, and so on. Note that the progression of cost reduction only depends on the number of times the Charm gets used rather than the number of motes spent on any activation. Zero-mote activations of Excellencies do not trigger the discount of this Charm. No matter how many times the Exalt activates an Excellency, the discount cannot increase by
more than three motes during any single action.

This Charm permanently alters the cost of the three Excellencies. The First Excellency now grants two dice for every
mote spent on it, the Second Excellency allows successes to be purchased for one mote each while the Third Excellency allow to reroll up to (Stunt Rating x4) dices. Radiant Dragon Inevitability Technique can be activated for a cost of four motes instead of a point of Willpower.
So Speaks Radiant Dragon is incompatible with any other Charm that provides cost discounts to the Excellencies, such as Effortless
Radiant Dragon Dominance.

Sorcerous Enlightenment of Radiant Dragon

The Radiant Dragon was once a member of the Twilight Caste, and one who valued and respected sorcerous knowledge. Thanks to his enlightenment the Exalt with this Charm can use Sorcery and learn spells as a Solar Exalt. However, the Radiant Dragon's fierce dislike of magic that suppress free will causes all Spells that inflict a Servitude or Total Control effect on another being, independent of its nature, to suffer a 10 motes and 1 Willpower surcharge.

 

New Charm Concepts

Dragon Knacks

Similar to Lunar Knacks, Dragon Knacks are unique powers that differ from normal Charms. Instead of allowing the character to exert his will on the world through a magical effect backed by Essence, Dragon Knacks usually enhance the user's natural attributes and allow him to change his body to better reflect the nature of his Dragon patron. Thus, while Lunars can freely manipulate the forms they assume, a user of Dragon Knacks can only assume dragon-related forms.

To learn Dragon Knacks there are two requisites:

-The character must possess an artifact that contain a Dragon's soul: only when wearing it on his body and drawing on his power can he use Dragon Knacks. Alternatively, he can receive tutelage from a sufficiently high-ranking Dragon or another character who already know Dragon Knacks and be taught how to awaken a secondary dragon soul within his Essence with the appropriate Charms.
-He must learn the Charm "Dragon Essence Domination".

Dominion is the realm of the Dragon. Excellence is the purview of the Solar Exalted. Neither will bow to the other, but they can learn how to work together. The Lawgiver learns how to channel the power of Dragons and alter his body to make himself similar to the Sons of Gaia, acquiring Knacks that can be accessed at will. At Essence 3, he can select 9 Knacks. This Charm must be repurchased at each new increase of Permanent Essence to unlock more Knacks. To successfully acquire the first iteration of this Charm the Exalt, in addition to normal Xp cost, must perform an extended Dramatic Action in place of training: he starts meditating and rolls (Wits + Resistance) at the end of each hour of uninterrupted meditation, with Difficulty set at 3. After he accumulates 15 success, he learns the Charm.

The number of Knacks available for dot of Essence are:

-Essence 3: 9 Knacks.
-Essence 4: +4 Knacks.
-Essence 5: +4 Knacks.
-Essence 6: +5 Knacks.
-Essence 7: +5 Knacks.
-Essence 8: +6 Knacks.
-Essence 9: +6 Knacks.
-Essence 10: there is no limit to the number of Knacks the character can acquire beside the natural limits specified in the Knack's description.

Flight

The Radiant Dragon is a greedy being. The primary object of his desires however are not material riches and treasures, even if those are appreciated, but beloved people. His true nature is to be a figurehead, a leader, not just a collector of inanimate things. The Flight are those beings who follow the Exalt and share an Intimacy with him, similar to the Followers Background. However, the Flight also included his more powerful comrades, as the Allies Background: they must too share a positive Intimacy with the Exalt. Examples are: a king and his vassals, the captain of a ship and his crew, the commander of a military unit and his men. The members of a Flight may have a different Motivation from the Exalt, but must be ready to follow and aid the Exalt's own when not in direct opposition to theirs.

Imperfection of the Radiant Dragon

The Radiant Dragon never walk away from a battle, even when outmatched. Those who would challenge his might must face the consequences for doing so. When a perfect defence with this imperfection is used against an opponent with a lower essence score (or equivalent) the Exalt may not move further away from their attacker, unless it is to engage a stronger opponent, until his DV refreshes thrice.

Supremacy Granting Magnanimity

The Radiant Dragon stands supreme above all. Yet how can one truly let their glory show if none can even begin to match his power? In his immense compassion, the Radiant Dragon chooses to set aside his goals to empower others to let them reach their full potential.

When an Exalt chooses to help to take the time to train others at the expense of her own time and goals (at least one scenes worth of time per dot trained), or to help train a rival or foe the Exalt's player may roll the character's Compassion. Each success on the roll reduces the Exalt's Limit by one (to a minimum of zero).

Torment of the Radiant Dragon

Like the Red Rage of Compassion flaw (page 104, core), except that the Exalt directs his rage at those things or people that threaten the subjects of his positive intimacies, either real or perceived as such.

Urge of the Radiant Dragon - The Urge to Surpass

The Urge of the Radiant Dragon is to prove himself better than others in all fields and tests. He doesn't need to dominate or control others, but all witnesses must recognize there is no one above him. He abhors cheating, for it creates doubts about his true might.

Examples include:

-Winning a fighting tournament
-Creating a work of art similar yet superior to another one
-Resolving a problem that appears without solution
-Defeating more opponents in a battle than his allies
-Accepting a challenge and winning
-Passing a test centered around a Virtue
-Acquiring a position of authority in an organization by his own merits.
