While fanfiction and webnovels have been my primary form of entertainment for almost half my life at this point, I have been reading a lot of fantasy and sci-fi over the past year and a half and I can't help but be a little sad and frustrated that almost none of the books I read have any piece of fanfiction for them. Well, the kind that I and the peeps here would enjoy anyway. Stormlight Archive, Warbreaker, Mistborn and Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere in general, Red Rising, Grishaverse etc. all have very little in the way of massive AUs, self Inserts and crossovers and only really have your typical shipping fics.

I'd love to see more epic fantasies getting fanfics. Only the biggest of the big seem to get them (ASOIAF, LOTR and WOT if you're lucky). I mean, your typical power hungry, systems exploiting munchkin would thrive so much in the Cosmere with all the different magic systems.

Goddess of Victory NIKKE

I'm only at Chapter 23 of the main story atm

But man, I'd like to see Chatterbox get jumped more often

Image Comic's Wayward. That shit is an absolute treasure trove the moment you read it. Quite the shame that no one seems to make fanfics around them.

I've seen a few get started but fics from the Aliens universe usually die off fairly soon when authors get tired of finding new ways of saying "and then they shot the Xenos". Would like to see more folks try.

Had lots of fun reading a celestial forge in 40k fic but the MC hit god status and the author decided smartly to end it. It's been making me want more tech geek does tech things in a post apocalyptic environment again. Magic is good and all but most of the fic forums seem to be overloaded with it recently, probably just gotta wait for the meta to change again.

Such is the problem of constantly escalating powersets, exemplified by BESRMoW and System stories. Very quickly most native threats are no longer a factor to the protagonist(s) and the story loses a lot of impact, or the wider geopolitical aftershocks of a sudden hegemon manifesting become too unwieldly to simulate.

Personal opinion. For a proper conflict-based story (e.g. the Aliens premise mentioned) to run, you ought to essentially "play chess with yourself", controlling both the protagonist(s) as well as the villains in reactive action-counter cycles/waves to maintain the tension, having both sides seesaw between advantage and disadvantage until the final decisive checkmate that ends the conflict. Hence most stories employing an intelligent enemy rather than a blunt sledgehammer of a horde do not do so well (opinion).

ADD: Suggestion. Simulate a PbP roleplay or turn-based "game" with the characters, guessing how they would react. Such as the Xenomorph thinking "the human sees me and is pointing the hurty brightstick at me. I know the brightstick can only hurt in straight lines, and only so many times before the human has to fiddle with it. What do I do?", and such.

What is the story about?

For me, I would like to see more fanfiction of Solo Leveling and other series. Specifically where they try something else. Like say have the MC have the power of another Monarch or the Rulers deciding to retry something else.

If I had to pick only one- and I should since I could list dozens of fandoms I'd love more fanfiction of from Animorphs to Zoids- I'd go with Death Parade which has a grand total of one fanfiction I kinda enjoyed, some Harry Potter Xover.

Death Parade for those not in the know is an anime where a judge pits two somehow related people - family members, enemies, whatever- against each other in games to show what they're really made of and deciding their fate- namely of whether they go to heaven or hell.

You know those 'they read/watch their series' type fanfictions? Death Parade could serve as a far more entertaining version of that.
