Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

I'd think the main point of rejection would be the fact that Hyperdrives don't work in gravity wells. That's the whole point of Hyperdrive Interdiction using Gravity Shadow generators.

The fighters would come out of hyperspace outside of the gravity well, and then immediately inside it there would be the tractor beam net. If the net could simply be bypassed through hyperspace, it wouldn't work. It relies on the fact that hyperdrives don't work in gravity wells rather than ignores it. Or at least that's what makes sense to me.

SECTION I REPORT OVERVIEW

The following dossier outlines the primary active engineering initiatives currently under development by the Minda system research division. In contrast to our conceptual exploratory logs, the projects detailed below have received full administrative authorization and funding. These initiatives are ranked strictly by their projected completion timeline, moving from immediate manufacturing readiness to long term structural design phases.

SECTION II ACTIVE PROJECT PIPELINE

Project IRONCLAD

  • Current Status High Priority Production Transition
  • Estimated Completion One to two months
  • Project Overview
    • This initiative delivers the newest generation of the LECA combat platform by synthesizing extensive operational data gathered in the field over the last few years. The development team integrated fresh engineering personnel alongside technical innovations originally discovered by independent contractors working on civilian iterations of the core technology.
    • While the core design philosophy remains strictly unchanged, focusing on an efficient, modular, and cost effective asset, this update comprehensively addresses original engineering flaws. It successfully expands operational tolerances and rectifies numerous chassis stability problems that occurred as a direct consequence of the rushed nature of the platform's initial development cycle.
    • Alongside the optimization of the baseline chassis, the engineering team is concurrently working to create entirely new LECA variants. These specialized configurations are being developed directly alongside the main project to serve as the very first operational models of this new generation, significantly expanding the platform's tactical roles.
Project SWARMLORD

  • Current Status Secondary Development Phase
  • Estimated Completion Two to four months
  • Project Overview
    • This project focuses on adapting the versatile ID10 seeker droid framework originally manufactured by Arakyd Industries and utilized by Imperial special forces units. Development initiated immediately following prolonged delays regarding the acquisition of corporate licensing rights from the parent manufacturer.
    • The objective centers on using the ID10 chassis as a standard baseline for a diverse suite of specialized companion droids tailored for soldiers, pilots, and field specialists. A preliminary variant is already fully operational as a dedicated spotter unit attached to the LECA A5 model. Upcoming variants currently in development aim to provide specialized flight assistance for ace pilots and real time tactical information integration for infantry squads.
Project GHOSTSHIP

  • Current Status Mid Stage Optimization
  • Estimated Completion Four to five months
  • Project Overview
    • This long standing engineering initiative focuses on a comprehensive redesign and internal refit program for existing Star Destroyer class vessels. The primary objective is to drastically reduce the baseline crew complement required for standard deployment cycles.
    • Although the core goal is conceptually straightforward, execution has proven highly demanding due to the sheer scale and systemic complexity of a capital ship. The team is currently finalizing automated network subsystems to safely bridge legacy mechanical control interfaces without compromising ship security.
Project THUNDER

  • Current Status Early Developmental Phase
  • Estimated Completion Six to eight months to prototyping, one year to final production
  • Project Overview
    • Inspired by recent advanced walker designs introduced by MynockArms, this project involves an entirely new and currently unnamed four legged mobile artillery asset. The weapon system is engineered to provide sustained indirect fire support across the theater of operations.
    • This unit aims to fill a critical tactical gap by avoiding the massive logistical footprint of an SPHA walker while bypassing the direct line of sight requirements that limit the AT AP platform. Because the project is in its infancy, current engineering efforts are focused on auditing preexisting Imperial supply lines to maximize components compatibility, which remains a core requirement for the success of all Mytoan military assets.
Project IMPERIAL REBIRTH

  • Current Status Conceptual Architecture Phase
  • Estimated Completion Minimum of one year to first prototype, final deployment timeline undetermined
  • Project Overview
    • Following several years of persistent advocacy from the primary ship design team, the Ministry has officially greenlit this foundational naval architecture project. Unlike the parallel Star Destroyer refit initiative which focuses strictly on modifying existing hulls for manpower efficiency, Project Imperial Rebirth represents the ground up creation of an entirely new unnamed capital ship within the Star Destroyer size classification.
    • The design group is currently drafting core structural layouts and hypermatter reactor integration schematics to establish a completely modernized framework for next generation sector power projection.
Directors Note I'm not sure how they got permission for this one, but from what I can tell it was 'authorized' by the Moff in that he was busy muttering something about Akahista and said 'sure do whatever' when asked.

Reminds me off these legend patrol walkers
ATPTs smaller and lighter than ATSTs but let one trooperhave a a repeater gun otherwise not capable of carrying. Amd considering they can deployed in groups if needed. One person per craft, a fireteam of 4-5 dudes can pilot one per soldier of these and get a lot better power projection and policing for their manpower. Not going to last against anti armor, as it is a light infantry focused walker, but it was used in outer rim patrolling i think.
latest
Project ironclad could also use these walkersthe AT-APs which are long rangee tanky but less mass and logistics than AT-TE or an HPSA artillery nicknamed thee sniper tank
It walks on two legs like smaller walkers but deployed third leg for stability for firing it's mass driver cannon

Or to put it another way: Lars was distracted and simply agreed to everything automatically.

I guess the SPMA-T from Empire at War is too expensive/ wasn't available?
Could have also tried to refit the AT-AP's for indirect fire.

Poor Las, accidentally approved the development of a space battleship while he wasn't paying attention and is gonna get a heart attack when they show him the finished product. 🤣

Rebels: "What do mean there are multiple generations of LECAs!?"
"Wow Inferno Squad really benefits from that little guy. Let's give one to every squad and pilot we can."
Tarkin is weeping in the afterlife. Good.
"Who needs gimmicky super weapons when can have effective artillery?"
Project IMPERIAL REBIRTH
"Who needs a city in a battleship when just a town can do?"

There is one thing: If Luke goes to Minda, instead of joining Rebel Alliance, then there is a problem (mainly for Rebels)

Luke joined the Rebellion or else Episode 4 would have had a far different ending.

I'm not saying he probably hasn't visited at some point in the last three years if he had the chance, but our boy has been busy as all hell helping the Rebellion do its thing.

What's really funny is that Vader could've had a really good chance of recruiting Luke if only he tried bonding with him over Starships and Starfighter designs, maybe even try bribing him with getting him one of the new Tie-Whirlwinds. Luke got Anakin's love for building/modding Starships and flying. Even though Luke joined the Rebellion he still really wants to visit the Mindan system and sneak into the Starfighter design labs.

I don't know about every other superweapon (Project 4: Tectonic Rail-Cannon), but that inter-system gun that can destroy planets sounded cool. I think Palpatine himself would say, "Hell yeah!" It sounds too cool not to have. Why not? I already have like 15 other superweapons; this one is just small and fires from a VERY long distance. I like it. I need to have one in my arsenal.

If you just modify it a little bit, put it in space, and surround the gun with spaceships—like a spinal weapon system—it could work really well.

Everybody, do you think these superweapon programs are paid for by the central Imperial government, or are they funded by Moffs from their own resources?

re's
The smaller scale prototypes are probably funded by the Moffs to start with. It's when they make a feasible and effective end product that Palpy takes an interest and and the Imperial Government takes over production on a larger scale.

I was more interested in the range. This gun fires projectiles over extremely long distances—even into another star system. The smaller guns work more like real-life rockets with very long range, but they're uncontrollable once launched. Also, if one of them hits a planet, you'll get massive tsunamis.

I've always hated the space battles in Star Wars. The story isn't bad, and the battles look cool as hell, but the ships have to fight at what is basically visual range. That's what always drove me nuts.

Take that maneuver Disney used to destroy the super ship. Why not recreate that concept as a long-range weapon? FTL-speed rockets. Sure, you'd have to calculate the enemy's future location and maybe even rely on espionage and intelligence gathering. That's what makes it so cool. Your ship could be in one star system while the enemy is in another. Then it becomes a spy game, with both sides trying to get accurate information on the enemy fleet. The moment one side gets 100% accurate coordinates—BOOM. Fire. One side is wiped out because their spies won.
