before I begin let me just say that I do not in any way support violence against people of other faiths. People can have their own differing opinions and beliefs. If you are of similar beliefs to the point that you get triggered by a story where a faith is spread and used as a casus belli for war then this isn't the story for you.

Amakusa "Geronimo" Shirō

April 5th, 1636, Hara Castle

The Seige was becoming Grim. Just Yesterday I led a sortie from the castle, in a bid to drive off the Shogun's forces. We managed a great victory. Emonsaku-san estimates that we slew seven hundred of the shoguns men in the attack, but it wasn't without a loss of three hundred of our own.

Sadly however it was for naught, for when I awoke this morning, I found a new banner flying in the wind.

In the distance, further beyond the Uesugi Clan's banner waved, the White, Black and Red threatening of the violence that is yet to come. Uesugi Asahi was not much older than me, but yet he had done so much more than I have. It was said that when Uesugi Kagekatsu died, a Ten no-Tsukai descended from the heavens, foretell that he who would next wield Yamatorige would lead Clan Uesugi to greatness, and that until that man had come, it was to be hidden, until the one destined to wield it came.

At Age fifteen he had bested the very best, rumors of a new Dragon of Echigo swirled, culminating in Uesugi Asahi retrieving Yamatorige atop Mt. Mikunisakai. Even he had heard of the blade, and how upon retrieving it from the shrine built atop the mountain to hold it, the blade turned from the traditional gray from the steel used to a shiny golden color.

Although it was a sin, I find myself envying that man. Born to a great Clan, gifted by God and beloved by the peoples of Nippon. While I had nothing but scorn, born to a lowly retainer and as it seemed, destined to die here in Hara.

I sighed as I looked out over the roaming hills…yet I wonder why they are charging Matsudaira's encampment? Could it be?

Uesugi Asahi

A Cherry Trees blossoms flow,

The inviting wind carried them afar.

Like God Above,

Let his Archangels carry me away if it so be.

I laid my brush down and looked forth, to the enemy encampments. It shall be here that all of my plans shall begin in earnest. My Ambitions lay upon the Shogunate. I Shall etch my name into the History books with this. Either as the savior of Japan, or as a demonic betrayer.

The Fool, Matsudaira Nobutsuna, hadn't even sent an envoy. Likely mistaking me as just another ally in this war. The Fool had left his backside exposed, truly dishonorable. His Arrogance shall become his undoing.

I put on my helmet and mounted Sakura. Unsheathing the blade I turn to my riders. The nineteen hundred Samurai in my employ were all mounted, staring at me, waiting for my orders. I unsheathed Yamatorige and pointed toward the Enemy encampment.

"Today we shall free our Brothers from the yolk of the Shogun's men. These men whom have been led astray by those Demons we know to be the Kami. Their Demonic Gods are an Affront to our Lord. We must show them the Powers of Christ! Shūgeki!" I said, turning Sakura to Charge. The thunder of hooves behind me rumbled. As the Cavalry rode I looked back for a moment, watching as the Archers and Cannons let loose their volleys, sowing chaos in the enemy encampment. The Tents went up enflamed, as we neared I saw one, struck by shock holding the arm that use to be attached to his body.

We were upon their encampment like lightning. I hacked at any who were misfortunate enough to find themselves in my way. Chaos within the encampment grew, yet I did not stop my rampage. Finally I saw him, Iwato Minamoto. The second in command of this siege. He was my secondary Objective, and shall die.

"Haikyō-sha, you truly dare to stand before me? Kneel and I shall give you the death of a coward like yourself!" I said, not minding the flames of war encompassing us. He stared me down, as I dismounted Sakura, giving her a pat on the rear to send her off. Better that she not get harmed in this battle.

"Why do this? We know that Japan should not have this meaningless bloodshed! Why aid these rebels Uesugi?" he asked, unsheathing his blade. I looked him up and down, assessing his weaknesses. His stance is off, he leans far too much to the right, an easy way to bring him to the ground.

"I shall burn Nippon to the ground, and rebuild it upon the ash." I said, lunging forth. Our blades locking for a moment, before I used my right hand to punch him in the face, quickly pulling back.

"You fight with dishonor!" he said, swinging for me, I dodged out of the way, bringing my armored knee to his chest, the armor there crunching against the superior steel.

"No, I fight to survive." I said, driving my Tachi through the exposed back of his neck, severing the spinal cord. "You are not even worth Seppuku." I said, before slashing at a wooden stake holding the already burning tent. It crashed to the ground, engulfing the man's body. I sent a silent prayer to the heavens, before whistling.

My noble steed Sakura appeared, mounting her I sheath my sword and pulled from my waist a horn. Blowing once I sounded the retreat. Riding out of the encampment. I stopped for a moment, waiting for a moment to ensure all of my men had escaped the encampment. When I felt that the bulk of my men had escaped, I took the horn and blew once more, this time seven times, unleashing Revelations upon the poor fools.

I had brought with me thirty three howitzers. Seven of these Howitzers were made to fire Grapeshot and the other made to fire Carcass shot. To say it was fair in any way was to lie. To lie is to sin, and It would be a lie if I said I would want to be in the place of those besieging Hara. After all, Hell had come to take its due.

If the old me was here he would feel sorry for them, he would order the artillery to stop. But I didn't. The faces of those we passed. Those Japanese crucified for their faith came to mind. I shall become the vengeance for those Martyrs. I shall not forget them, nor shall I let the Shogun forget them.

Well, that's a wrap. not my best work but I've been gone for so long it's the best I can do as of now. Hopefully with time I will get back to the level of writing I was formally at and beyond. I can't give a good estimate to the next release but expect it within the month (?).

Mmmm... It's a good strong start I feel (don't forget to threadmark Btw), but I can't help but feel you'd get alot more views if you tagged it with "No Lewds" or equivelant if you don't want to add them, and put it in the NSFW I guess.

... Fuck, maybe even make it a Fate cross? But that's me trying to control the narrative into my personal tastes.

I just don't want such a promisingly good story to languish inside our less used SFW forum. Even if it's got a share of viewers here, it's just... Not as viewed as NSFW.

... It heck, since it's this, maybe cross-post on Alternate History? They'd love an historical SI there!

I'm not putting a story where Christ brings the Japanese to the faith in with the salacious. I don't really like FATE all that much or even know that much of it, if I was to make it a X-Over I would somehow wrap Ghost of Tsushima in, if only the descendants of Jin Sakai being involved in the story. I am also banned on AH, They banned me for explaining a subject of culture that they happened to not agree with. That's neither here nor their.

I was rightfully pissed off. I had years on AH and it was all gone cause one guy disagreed with me on a subject I was knowledgeable in and banned me over a difference of opinion. IDC now, far as I'm concerned they won't last much longer with all of the people leaving sites like that in bulk. half of the accs there are inactive or people who got around their honestly shit security blocks.

Not surprising, the AH mods come quite hard when their three views are triggered.

This TL looks quite good and I hope you keep this strictly historical instead of mixing this with fantasy elements. Although as someone who was named inside the sacred complex of the Ise Grand Temple, I would hate to see it converted into a church or worse raged to the ground but if the thread remains interesting than why not.

I don't plan on forcing Japan to convert, more of 'kill the religious leaders and see what happens'. I.E. Imperial Family is gone, the Buddhist Temples and the Shinto Shrines will remain, and won't be converted. I think that would be a step to far after all. Now I can't say much on a few cities...

I think a chunk of that is caused from everyone moving their SFW fics to NSFW though. There can't really be any traffic on this forum if the content keeps getting shifted over to the NSFW forum :V

It's the reason why I don't want to switch. In the beginning of this story I can get a few chapters in before people flood me with alerts on QQ and I can keep track of the stories I like to read here.

Very interested in this scenario.

I hope that Catholic Nations such Portugal and Spain will come in aid to the Japanese Catholics. Especially Spain, considering that they have a colony (Philippines) near Japan. They also send Filipino missionaries to Japan, one of them, Lorenzo Ruiz, became a martyr there and later became the First Filipino Saint

Getting rid of the imperial family will be difficult. I remember a video from that alternatehistoryhub guy about if Japan converted to Christianity and I agree with some of his points. Best bet is to let the imperial family stay and get rid of the shogunate and do some meiji restoration kind of thing in the political side. People often point to Philippines as what would happen to Japan if they converted but that's not the case at all. Japan was a full and united nation with a strong government while it was the opposite in Philippines. There is no full on puppeting since the logistics would make that impossible to happen. Like always when it comes to being in a diadvanatge, you work with the locals. In Philippines' case it's letting the local nobility do whatever they want but under the spanish crown. Also, killing the imperial family is fine while not touching the buddhist or shinto shrines because it's too far? It seems to be the other way around imo. I mean, they don't have to be burned down, just remade so to speak, at least those in the Christian regions if you don't want forced conversion. Also, the syncretism is the key. If you take a look at Philippines, many folk tales and the like are compatible or at least tolerated by the priests. I remember a priest talking about this somewhere and IIRC when they talked about Trese.

I said that the current Imperial family would die out in this story. I didn't say that I was getting rid of the institution of the Imperial Japanese Family.

Idk man, the Yamato dynasty is THE Imperial Family.
Replacing them with another will be heretical to the Japanese population unless if you replace them with a Yamato family member who is Catholic.

One must understand that the role and background of the Japan's Chrysanthemum Throne was fairly different from China's Dragon Throne. In China, the right to rule (i.e. The Mandate of Heaven) was generally established by the actions and accomplishments of the Emperor. Thus, if an emperor was incompetent and was thus overthrown, his ursuper was considered morally justified in doing so and taking his place. In Japan, however, the title of "emperor," as they understood it, was almost more of a hereditary social class that could not be transmitted to anyone else under any circumstance. The rule was justified by their mere existence; being naturally superior to anyone else regardless of their shortcomings. And the Japanese have Shinto to thank for this.

If the royal family is gonna be Catholic then their right to rule will come from the Divine Right of Kings justification. Which is kinda similar to the Shinto counterpart where the Yamato's right to rule came from blood and mandate of Amaterasu. But in this case of a Catholic royal dynasty, their right to rule comes from God.

Shit, this seems neat. Can't wait to see more.

Rarely see anything having Christianity in a vaguely heroic, or protagonist-like role in anything, usually people play them as either antagonists, incompetent, or both. Only ever seen like, one single story, on SB no less, that had a christian as a MC and not a complete asshole to everyone while also not being super preachy.

Anyways, can't wait for more DEUS-chan VULT-senpai. :V

Honestly, while I have an AH account, I only made it to view like, one story, then left the site forever and forgot about it because dear lord the site is hell to traverse stories in.

Worse than /suptg/ even, since at least with there all I have to do is scroll down or ctrl-f the OP.

Have heard about the absolute shitshow that is the mods there, though.

Fucking THIS, for fucks sake.

So tired of the "Oh, SFW doesn't get traffic! You should move your BLATANTLY SFW STORY where you OUTRIGHT SAY THERE WILL BE NO GORE OR SMUT into NSFW!"

And then people wonder why SFW is dead.

Maybe it's because YOU KEEP TELLING ALL THE GOOD STORIES TO MOVE.

Grinds my gears, man.

Serious question, What would you rather I do? obviously MC will conquer Japan and turn it Chris-Chan, but should I turn all shinto and Buddhist shrines into Churches, or merely build new churches? Honestly I would build new churches, but the fun route (AKA REVOLT TIME JAPANESE KILLING JAPANESE AGAIN! NONSTOP WARFARE, NO NATION BUILDING JUST BLOOD) could be interesting to write, though Im not certain it would end well for the MC.

Obviously the shrines are already churches, they just don't know it yet. :V

If the MC is going to turn all Shinto and Buddhist Shrines to Catholic Churches, it will be quite similar on what Emperor Meiji did during his policy of State Shinto, where Buddhist Shrines were closed or turned into Shinto Shrines. I can see the MC either leading mobs to destroy Shinto shrines or maybe convert shrines like the Ise Grand Shrine into a Catholic Cathedral just like what the Romans did with the Patheon.

Also, I wonder if your MC will create a new Rite within the Catholic Church. You might stick to the Roman rite if you don't wanna overcomplicate things.

Not really, a shrine is a shrine and a church is a church. It's not meant to be where mass is held and all that. The church would be closer to a full on temple. We have a small shrine of Mary in our backyard. You can turn them into shrines for saints if you wish.

Well,in theory they should die for Emprah, but in practice,in 1637 nobody really cared about him.
But - you could not made SI next Emperor, becouse in Japan only members of one family could be Emperors, like MisterHilbert said.

On another topic - you could win with better technology/no need A bombs, cyvil war weapons would be enough/ ,but Shoguns have very good spies, and they made their vassals spend half of year in Edo.
How SI managed to hide his preparations?

P.S In China Jesuits made chineese version of Catholic Faith for Ming Dynasty - sadly, they hell, and Jesuits enemies torpedoes it anyway/other monks,basically/
You could made japaneese version here,if you want.

After victory - colonize North America Pacyfic shore before english settlers get there, and do the same with Australia.I hope, that your SI knew whwere australian gold mines are !

The Jesuits did not made a Chinese version of the Catholic per say, but they made a Chinese "rite". Not many people know this (in fact a lot of Catholics too) but the Catholic Church is not only the Roman Catholic Church, there is also the Greek Catholic Churches, the Maronite Catholic Church, the Melkite Catholic Church, and others. They have different liturgy and styles but they all have the Bishop of Rome, AKA the Pope, as their head of religion. Anyways the Chinese rite was very controversial however because Franciscans and Dominicans view Chinese Catholics that are still performing ancestral veneration to be heretics, they were commiting idolatry while the Jesuits view the Chinese ancestral veneration as nothing more than a secular ceremony. It was so controversial that it took two centuries for the Papacy to accept that ancestral veneration is not heretical.

If the SI wants a Japanese Catholic Church that is considered a separate rite from the dominant Roman rite. The SI better be ready to convince the Pope for he will need luck in getting recognition. If this Japanese rite Catholic Church will be the case in this story. Then I suggest the author to model it after the Greek Catholic Churches that has their own National Patriarchs but still under the leadership of the Pope.

Tis the plan. I would kinda expect it coming into the story IMO. I do plan to release the next chapter today, if God's willing. When I finish the Shimabara Jidai (which I plan to be a period of six years no less) I will focus more on rebuilding Japan as a nation. I might throw another war in, but that wouldn't be until the very end IF I do not.

Another war? SI could help Ming fight Manchur - even,if Ming do not become catholics. It is always better yo have 2 China then one as neighbours.
And,do not forget going after North America/copper and tin mines in Canada - they could made bronze for cannons there/ and Australia/gold/

Also,in OTL there was polish Jesuit who tried to save Mings, and even become chineese official.Father Boym,i think.
You could use him here,if your SI engage in China.

Here,i found it:

He also wrote about chineese medicines.Which certainy were useful.
Not those who worked against malary/they had it,too/ but many other useful things.

Yeah. I wasn't talking about the Ming, but it definitely is a plot point. I'm talking war's that the United Christian Japanese will fight in. There will be more war's touched upon in the future. I guess I should also state what I see a war as. In this series a war is a series of battles between two nations of equal standing. So lets say as I plan, Japan begins encroaching upon the Ainu? Because they are an uncivilized group of mostly autonomous tribes I do not count them as a nation.

Yes,for Japan it was like conqering Wild West for USA.Ainu even made few uprising, but always lost every major battle.Becouse they were not soldiers, only warriors, and warriors rarely beat soldiers in battle,no matter how brave or strong they are.

That aside - only countries with which Japan could wage wars would be China,Manchuria and korea.
Okinawa was cyvilized, but too small to count.

But - you could take various spice islands from dutch and portugees. In 1637 spices were better then gold.
And,it would be war,too !
