She believed and that was all that was necessary.

She believed in Him.

She believed in his works made manifest. That he would return.

And so... she ran. For her faith was pure.

And her will had not fallen to the fell conquerors, she had never yielded.

She would never yield.

For she knew. With an absolute certainty that the burden she bore in her arms was of the Trinity.

His obvious demi-divine nature shining forth in that ancient and silent gaze, despite his absolute youth.

And they would slay him. Deny his rebirth as they had since the day that the kingdoms of old had fallen. How could they not?

In his maturity, he would be their doom. The death of their flesh incarnated god. An equal to He who was Power. But only if he could live that long.

Secrecy of his birth had been maintained. But the conquerors had seers who could see the rebirth of the Hero in the very celestial heavens, the stars crying out the auspicious event.

And so, they had come.

And she ran. For she was no warrior. The arts of war had been denied her and her people since that long ago defeat upon the field of blood.

That ancient war when the collective might of the kingdoms of old marched upon He who was Power. Marched upon and slaughtered by.

She had heard tales of that day. And of how the Hero had been fell by betrayal. A knife in his back while he rested and slept. A poisoned blade by one he had called friend.

And She had heard of his prophesied rebirth.

She believed in him.

As had her people at first. Before they were broken. Their will ground beneath the boots of the countless armies of the moblin empire.

Year by year, without their Hero, her people had fallen in battle after battle. Driven back to their ancestral homelands.

But he had returned. Only to be slain in his cradle.

Time after time.

And in time, their hope were crushed. Knowledge that their very hero, their destined one would never achieve his destiny.

But she had believed and had been rewarded and repaid with the virgin birth of her people's shining hope.

And so when they came, she ran and prayed. For she knew of what could happen to him if she hadn't.

Prayed that that the sounds of brush and shrubbery wasn't that of the Moblins having gotten her scent.

That she could escape.

That he could live. Not like the other lives he had briefly lived before now. Stabbed to death in his cradles by moblin spears. Thrown to the wolves and hounds of Ganon to tear apart. Drowned. Burned alive. And so many more.

She knew that he could one day fulfill his destiny. His fate.

And one day, Ganon would fall. After all, Ganon and his moblins had to succeed every time in slaying their enemy. He had but to live once and win.

For anything otherwise would be unthinkable.

When I opened this up, I misread 'LoZ' as 'FoZ', and boy did that cause some interesting mental images~

This short, so awesome. Official Headcanon for somewhere in the Zeldaverse.

Hahahahahahaha....

FoZ... ish that a Void Mage destined to doom the elves being given forced reincarnations? XD

Also... it's unlikely to occur in any of the canon settings... but would make for a nice setting for a fic or a game or perhaps the starting of a QUEST~

Well, the obvious guess for the identity of the female subject was Louise. Which made her the mother of some Child of Prophecy, in a war-torn hellhole.
So, yeah. Odd mental images.
