Manga Rec Thread

A realization just hit me and I'm posting it here because I can't seem to find if we have a Jujutsu General thread anywhere.

When it first came out, people were joking about Yuji being 'pink naruto', and as of the ending i've heard people talk about Yuji's attempt at 'talk no jutsu' at the very end, but...

Man, JK is like an inversion of Naruto.
Naruto has the endless "you're just like me!" resolution to every villain, the reveal that everybody was lonely at some point.
Jujutsu Kaisen has the infamous "You're right, I am you." scene, where the villain tries to convince the hero that they're not so diffrent, and it results in one of the most hardcore and most terrifying scenes of the whole series.

Even the ending, that wasn't Yuji trying to redeem Sakuna. That was a bold-faced death-threat and one last attempt to offer mercy, from a character who's always hated killing people, but never really been able to avoid it.
And of course, the response is "Are you pitying me, nigga? I'll kill us both out of spite!"

Because curses are an embodiment of malice.

It's the total reverse of what you'd expect if you went in expecting 'pink Naruto', and it's better for it.
Proof that 'subverting expectations' doesn't always have to be dogshit.

Go watch/read Jujutsu Kaisen.

What's funny is also that Sukuna even after death didn't really feel sorry about anything he did

He just realized, maybe he was wasting a good portion of his life being a POS out of spite

So if he can master his reincarnation or choose what he gets reborn as, he might just decide to be both a Japanese Gordon Ramsay and a Yakuza man for the hell of it

There's only the one chapter so far, right? Not much to really get into.
Still, it's making people seethe, which is pretty funny.

We can't really talk about what it's allegorizing without running into the politics rule though.
Well, we can just say that it's about a race of aliens who 'saved earth from a meteor' and are enjoying gross privileged status ever since.
Everyone seems to worship the ground they walk on, even though they're rude, abusive, smell bad, refuse to learn the language, ect.
You're not allowed to criticize them, you're not allowed to speak out against them, or society will turn against you.
And then all of this resentment bubbles up into "it'd be great if they all died."
 
I just finished reading "Ijimeru Aitsu Ga Waruinoka, Ijimerareta Boku Ga Waruinoka?" or "Is the bully bad, or is the bullied me bad?" in English. It's a really short 30 chapter read about a guy who was bullied becoming the teacher of the daughter of his primary bully. The daughter starts to be bullied and the first half of the manga runs a mystery angle of if and how the teacher is involved in the girls bullying. The second half is very "revenge fantasy" as it transitions from focusing on the students to the adults but it doesn't feel forced or undeserved. There is an overarching idea that redemption is possible though only one of the characters actually takes the time to reflect and try to be better. The rest either lack the opportunity or fail to make better choices. Ego, pride, jealousy, and/or peer pressure are the main drivers behind the bullies and you can sort of see how a petty grudge or perceived sleight snowballs into vicious bullying. Overall there is very little gray area in this manga, the issue of bullying is very black and white and everyone gets the ending they deserve.

I think for the FMC's ex-friend, she at the very least has a chance at redemption

Whereas for those with zero regrets, it's them who are really really really screwed

That the Sensei actually checked beforehand and found that yes, those that bullied him really are STILL scum, makes his leaking their past crap to be well deserved
