The moment I saw the ungrateful little bastard playing the Pokemon game I got him for Christmas I thought I was dreaming.

I checked.

I just couldn't believe it! And he came to ask me for advice on what to do! I was like "Finally!"

Right now I'm torn between pride of him learning the awesomeness that is pokemon and iridescent anger at the bullshit he's doing. He doesn't even know the pokemon's names! I've told him so many times, showed him a bunch of pokemon stuff. He even watchs the cartoons, how can he not even know the names of such iconic pokemon as Rattata and pidgey? He, he didn't even know what an HM was!

I remember myself going into Pokemon. I didn't even know how the 1st generation staters were called.

Yes, and i remember just how stupid I was when I started to really get into the game, which was at a much older age (Gen. 3).

It's just I really have to hold myself back from just exploding at so much ignorance as he's showing and letting him learn on his own like I did so the seed can grow.

I need some good material to help with this. He's a kid so I can't just explain away all the mechanics like how I memorized them, cold hard facts and equations. He's just not the same gamer I am, he the 'It looks cool so it must be awesome!' kind of player and I'm the 'Save scum for hours to get a decent starter' kind.

Clearly EVs and IVs will matter so much to him.

Managed to at least get him to realize that some Pokemon are just born better than others of their own species!

...I just inadvertently taught him a horrible life lesson didn't I?

No that would be if I ever gave him the talk about why Hypno is shitty.

This is more like telling him that some people are just born losers.

I find everyone has a different speech on why Hypno is shitty.

Whats yours?

Poor Gyrados. You used to be awesome, but then they introduced double elemental weaknesses, and now you're terrible, with that x4 electricity weakness.

Bullshit; he's still OU because Dragon Dance and Moxie is fucking beautiful and his stat spread is still damn good. Bulky sets also do well because Intimidate with 95/79/100 base defensive stats and a fairly good defensive typing is solid.
