Here is a thread to quotes part of stories you find fun or epic or else and desire to share them. Do not forget to refer to the story you quote.
I'll start with something I find great.
-Stand And Watch Them Fall (FFT)
We see many stories of men versus monsters. But there is just something I find epic here about how one react when confronting for the first time something beyond human comprehension and how someone muster the will to go fight such an abomination.
I'll start with something I find great.
You do not dare say you are not terrified.
You have never fought such beasts, but you know of the great dangers posed by monsters such as behemoths and dragons out in the darkest reaches of Ivalice, monsters that can swallow men whole and crush cottages with but a single charge. You've always wondered how terrifying it would have to be to ever face such a monstrous beast, such an insurmountable foe.
Yet no matter what fear you had ever imagined as a knight-apprentice in relation to such foes, the fear you feel now as you face down what may be a god or demon is exponentially worse.
The more rational part of your mind tells you that you have no idea how to fight Mateus. With a human foe, you can expect certain forms of attacks, know the limits of the human body, how strong they may strike, which way they may bend. You have no idea what to say to a suit of armor shaped for no living creature you can ever imagine, with two massive arms almost as large as you are, holding a massive spear...or is it a staff? Little matter; it bristles with energies you recognize to be elemental magick - ice, no doubt - and looks like it can cleave a chocobo in twain, never mind a human.
You have no idea how to fight such a being.
Yet, somehow, something very deep within you tell me that you must fight...and that you must win. Something tells you that men have defeated such a foe before, and you can replicate such a miracle.
