Samuel is currently sitting on one of the tables in a Legendary Tavern. It is rowdy with a lot of singing and cheering.

He looks at the bag of gold that he have before him, acquired from his job while he was training. Now that his training is over. He is armless and needs to find a weapon. Curiously, when he woke up to a strange power, he instinctively knew it was Trophy. It whispers of the Quest of ultimate power. A mystical object known as the Crown of Command. He heard of that tale during his travels throughout the land of Talisman. Now, it seems to be real and true. He knows that power can spell doom or prosperity for the land... He is determined to find it so he can do great good for everyone before it falls into the wrong hands. He is not too worried about being armless, as he learns that he is much stronger. He could even punch a small crater in a tree without a bloody knuckle!

Still, what will he do next? He knows of a blacksmith in a village not that too far from here that sells weapons and armor. The journey might be lonely... Perhaps he should look for someone to join him? But who?

Samuel thought it was too noisy. Or maybe that's just him. He never was able to enjoy rowdy crowds much. So he stood from his table and made his way to leave the fine establishment. There is still daylight to accomplish tasks. Small and all. Which is why he started for the blacksmith.

He is strong, but having a weapon is always welcomed. He'll find a blade from them and see if any tasks can be done, for the people of the village. Earn more coin and help others. A win win situation.

Having decided to set out by himself.

He begins his trek toward the village. He walks past a tent full of bodies, more people carrying bodies into the tent. With some escort out of the tent to the top of the hill and tossed down the hill on another side. It is tragic. It wasn't that long ago when pestilence hit the land and many people fell ill. Even he got sick before that went away when he awoke his power.

A woman screaming from a nearby hut, "Help! Help! My baby! Please somebody help!"

Samuel stopped in his tracks to take a look at the sight. Bodies that can start piling to the sky. Not that many, but it felt like it. There were times he got sick. As a child, he tries to tough it out to go help his dad. But he forced him to rest and stop being stubborn. It made him feel bad to not help tend to the fields. He can't get sick anymore, but others can.

"Hm?" He turns to the shouting woman and rushes over. "What happened?" Samuel asked at the hut.

Timeline 1, Turn 1: Introducing Branotir Ironchin
ee37d5f737409b7963c1aaf36fc55fb1.jpg

Branotir Ironchin grumbles as he wanders through the woods from his home in Crags. He was just enjoying his day mining a new room in his cave. Until he accidentally shatters a hole in a new room, now it is just uneven, and that pisses him off. It took him a few days to realize that his newfound strength was tied to Trophy and Quest. He knows of the legend of the Crown of Command. He doesn't even care about that as he is a happy man with his mineral collection but now he has to do this blasted Quest in case some upstart bastards get their hands on Crown of Command. He wouldn't put it past himself that those greedy humans would be seeking that.

That is why he is out here in the woods as he hears words in his community about a mage living in the woods who offers powerful spell scrolls for those pure of heart, he decides he may as well try. He was deep in his beard when he bumped into an odd fellow dressed in a bright blue robe.

"Hey, watch where you going." The dwarf grumbled at the fellow which caused him to frown, "I apologize but weren't you one not paying attention?" Branotir gave the bird in response which caused the fellow to frown even more before he snapped his finger and vanished.

It took a moment before he realize that was the mage he was looking for, "Fuck!" He screams and causes a flock of birds to fly out of the woods.

The mother with tears falling down her cheeks, she shows him the baby. The young girl was wrapped in her blanket, her eyes grey and sunk into her sockets. He can tell that her chest isn't moving...

"Please, save her. There got to be medicine for her, magic, anything! Save my baby... I try so hard to take care of her... What did I do to deserve this..." She cradled the baby girl to her chest while mumbling, seeming to struggle to accept the cruel reality.

Samuel parted the blanket to get a closer look at the girl. She's not looking good. No. Not at all. Her chest wasn't moving, so she isn't alive anymore. The young man thought it was a trick of the mind. Another moment passing told him otherwise.

"I can't…she's gone…." He told her with a heavy heart. His power didn't give him the ability to heal. Nor bring back the dead. Even if he wanted too. The world is a cruel one. Not caring for who is an elder or youth. He wanted to be strong, but can't save an innocent child.

She gave out a loud wailing as reality kicked in for her. Her neighbors ran in and gasped at the sight, rushing over to her side, and giving her smoothing words. An older lady placed her hand on his shoulder, giving him a nod of thanks for trying. He left and kept walking for the blacksmith. The sooner he can get his hand on the Crown of Command, the sooner he can change everything and save everyone from this suffering.

It is only when he is well on his way that he notices something grab his hand. He looks down and his heart suddenly freezes. For what holding his hand... Is a floating baby girl. Her body seems broken evident by her multiple arms, likely by the violent death of pestilence. Yet, she smiles and coo while trying to play with his hand. She doesn't seem to realize that she is dead.

Samuel left the scene with heavy footsteps. What was the point of his strength if he couldn't save people? The sooner he got his weapons the better. Then he can take his wrath out on the monsters and bandits around. If any were.

"Hm?" He looked to what was holding his hand. The color drained from his face at the sight of the floating child. Pale, broken, and dead. Was it the same baby girl from moments before?

"….Hello." Samuel greeted. She's smiling so innocently. Does she not know the state she's in? "I'm Samuel…" He allowed her to play with his hand and familiarize himself with it.

It seems he has a new goal. Find a way to help the girl, so she may live her life.

"Come on." He gently urged on.

Branotir kept wandering through tall ass farm fields.

"Fucking round ears making everything too fucking tall to see!" He grumbling. He paused as he heard piercing wailing behind him.

"Aww fuck no. Please don't tell me..." He slowly turns around to see a ghostly figure of a woman staring at him. There so many cases of ghost spotting and attacks ever since pestilence hit the land.

He just stared at the banshee, he could feel his luck jump out of his skin. Banshee lunges at him and he just instantly bolts away as fuck as his little legs can take him while cradling his beard to his teary eyes, "MOMMA!!!"

The girl clearly is giggling yet he can barely hear anything but a wind from her. Like her body, the sounds don't always come through. One thing he knows for sure, this baby has the same grey eyes and sunken sockets. He is more willing to bet it is the same baby from earlier.

With newfound determination, he kept walking for the village... It took him a while but he finally found the village. This baby... weight heavy on him... The baby refused to leave no matter what he did. It seems his journey will be a lot slower with the baby... But maybe it will be worth it... if only just to see the innocent playfulness of the baby to remind him why he is doing this.

Curiously, none of the villagers even notice the baby on his shoulder playing with her tiny toes. Perhaps his power allows him to see the baby so clearly.

He walks into the blacksmith shop. There is a woman hammering away on her anvil.

She stops in her work and looks up to him, "Yes?"

She stops in her work and looks up to him, "Yes?"

"Ma'am." He gives a nod to the woman. "I'm looking to buy a sword or two. The road is dangerous, so I'd like the ability to protect myself. Do you have blades for sale? I can pay." He shows his bag of gold.

She places her hammer on the table while putting the cooling sword back in the forge. She walks over to him to grab the pouch and count the coins.

She sighed at this, "I am sorry traveler. But you do not have enough even for a sword... or anything. A winter ago, it could be enough. But since the pestilence, there are far few people and I need more money as things are costly."

She thinks over it again, "Traveller, for this bag. We have a village healer who can help with any injuries you may have. Otherwise, we have mystics outside of the village that offer power... for free... However, be careful if you going to dabble with it. We have a case of people going mad with it and a case of people becoming very..." She rubbed her head trying to think of how to properly say it, "Like those good folk at the chapel. Too kind."

"Still, don't stop yourself from visiting, perhaps you will find yourself stronger or smarter by luck after a visit with him. If something goes wrong, maybe another visit will fix it." She says as she walks back and pulls the sword out of the forge to work on it once more.

"I apologize, I wish I could help you more but the time is hard for us all. If you find yourself with extra gold, feel free to come visit again."

What? Samuel didn't show it, but he was shocked. He assumed the bag held more than enough coin for a simple short sword. But no. It's not even enough for that.

A moment to think told him this wasn't unreasonable. Not with the current situation. Prices are inflated because of it. "I see." He takes his money back with a sigh. "Thank you."

The warrior turns to leave the smith. Making sure the baby is still with him and all. He decided to go to the village healer to see what they know of the pestilence.

The inflated economy in this bad time. That was expected but still... This bad? There must be more to this but that is none of his business. After checking the baby to see that she is still in his backpack, her head peeks in and out of the cover with a giggle.

He walks over to the local house where the healer is supposed to be. He opens the door and walks in.

He spots a woman tending to a wounded soldier.

She turns toward the door and looks at him, "New patient?" She asks him while administering a medical herb to a soldier's cut-up arm.

"I'm not." He shook his head. His body is currently scar free and and in top shape. "I wanted to ask for information regarding what caused the pestilence."

She sighs, "Honestly, I am not even sure what caused it. All I know is that it came out of nowhere and many people got sick. Sure, it helps with money for me but I don't want to see this many sick and wounded people... Especially the dying bit... When we check with our mystic. He was rambling about an old legend called Crown of Command and how it has appeared and that brought around this chaos." She starts wrapping the bandage around the soldier's arm.

"We didn't really listen to him since he said that the worst was yet to come... Worse than this? I don't want to think about that." She looked at him and stood up to walk over.

"I want to check to see if pestilence got you too. I found out about something from the mystic that even healthy people might not realize. Hold your breath." He did so. She then pressed something in his belly. He suddenly felt piercing screaming in his forehead.

"Thought so, you got sick from pestilence did you?" She says as she walks over to her shelf, grabs a bottle, and walks back.

"I hate to say this, but I do need payment for this if you accept it. This should remove the last of the pestilence that is hidden in your body. I am not sure how it works or why it works. But maybe the mystic isn't fully wrong about the origin of this sickness. It is not a normal sickness... It messes with spirit too. Mystic gave me a recipe for this. Unfortunately, this medicine is hard to get and not a lot of people are willing to go out to get the herbs I need to make medicine. So I need money so I can hire someone to do it since I cannot go out there. If I get sick, that will end badly for this village if they have no healer."

"I…." He was speechless after her examination. His thoughts still on what she said. How could he get sick? His powers should've prevented that. Right? Maybe it didn't protect his spirit as it does his body?

"That's fine.." Samuel pulls out his coin bag to give her the needed payment. Hopefully he has enough. "Is this mystic outside the village? The warrior asked.

"I can get them for you. If it's some monster in the way, I'll just kill it. I just need you to tell me what herbs you need and what they look like. Where they are will help too."

She took the bag and gave him the bottle, he drank the bottle and suddenly his body felt like it was on fire, then just as quickly vanished. He couldn't believe it. He felt energy rushing through his body, he never felt like this. Like he can run for days! His mind feels open. He noticed that after his power awakened, he did feel a bit smarter and a lot stronger. But his stamina never improved. Perhaps it is because of this sickness in his soul that prevents it? The power healed him, but he did get sick before his power awakened. Maybe it cannot heal damage before it is awakened? The headache he felt before? Is this why the baby has sunken eyes? Because of sickness in her soul? Is this why she looks messed up and is still here as a ghost?

He felt his hand grabbed by the floating girl who looked at him with a happy expression.

"You look better. It is working. Yes, this is our local mystic outside of the village. As for the plants. I will be grateful. They are in the field beyond the woods." She then describes what plants look like, "Be careful in the woods. People have got lost in there." The soldier put in his note, "Be careful of the brigade. Those bastards got me. There should be a safer route through the forest." He points it out to you on the map, "I still don't trust it because they never stay still in one spot."

Branotir was panting in a field, somewhere... far from that banshee.

"Fucking bitch." He grumbled as he walked into a small opening of the field, to see a sword resting its blade inside the ground, sticking out. There are faintly glowing blue symbols on the blade. He recognizes that blue carvings anywhere. Those are ancient dwarven works. Cursed but necessarily in ancient times with great evil. He will not touch it.

He turns and walks away, such artifacts are better forgotten. There should be a village nearby. He knows there is a mystic that might help him out.

"It's always good to check just in case. I would recommend taking his words with a grain of salt."

"Ok. I'll stop by on my way to the forest." He said before taking his leave to the mystic.
He walks outside of the village along its border in search of mystic. Finding a hut in the middle of small woods.

Mystic turns toward him, "Ahh young man..." He says as his eyes wander toward the small girl sitting on his head. He frowns, "And your sickly companion... What can I do for you? If it is a matter related to the young spirit. I can help her recover from her sickness so she may move on to the beyond."

Samuel wasn't surprised that he could see her. He's a mystic. Perceiving spirits is nothing for him. "I wanted to ask about this situation. I was told you said the crown brought it here. But you also said the worse is yet to come. Or so I'm told. What did you mean by that? What else is coming to this village?"

He shakes his head, "I cannot see the future. I can only read the signs. This whole sickness is merely the start. The appearance of the crown triggers the whole thing. You felt the power in you boy. Power does not come without cost. Sickness infests the soul, warping them into madded spirits that feed on life. Beasts becoming corrupted. Monsters going feral. Everyone knows the famous quote of power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. What do you think Crown of Command that is said to rule the very land itself with its ultimate power meant for the land? Without someone at the helm, the crown will destroy the land with its uncontrollable power. Only the chosen can control it to prevent this for others will be corrupted and destroyed by its power. I do not know if threats are coming to this village... But I do know there will be more threats to the land as a whole as long as the Crown sits there without its ruler." He starts rambling about corruption in the land due to the Crown feeding from the land to fuel its power. Something about balance and cycle between all things, etc.

"So in order for things to get better, someone needs to take the crown." Samuel summarized. If it's using the land as fuel for its power that's all the more reason to go after it.

"Where is it?" He asked. "Would the crown be able to bring this baby girl back to life?"

Mystic shook his head, "That my boy, I do not know. That will be for you to find out when you get there. I suggested that you let me heal the girl here so she may move on. This is not a normal sickness, it will spread, and unlike you, who both have a body and the power to protect you. This girl lacks those and will succumb to its soul sickness. Life and death should not be tampered with... Not without a price." Samuel can see barely of pain in his eyes, hoping that he will let him heal the girl.

"As for location. It is located somewhere in the Inner Region. I do not know where exactly. But I do know the region is sealed away and locked by the Portal of Power in the Middle Region. That is not easy to open... for a mortal like me. For those chosen like you, I reckon you will find a way to do so. Then you will need to find the fabled Talisman as it will show you the way to the Command of Crown. Again, I do not know where they are exactly. I have heard rumors of a fabled object somewhere in the Middle Region. Perhaps someone in there will know more. I know of four ways to get there. There is a great bridge to the west that leads to the region. However, it is guarded by the powerful sentinel statue. Another is a ferryboat next to the Tavern although it might be hard to find the captain if the boat is still around. You could find a wizard in Tavern who might know a teleportation spell. Lastly, you can just build a raft if you have an axe... If you are willing to attempt to brave the dangerous River of Storm yourself. If you going to do the last one. Don't bother asking our local blacksmith. She has sworn off on forging axe after too many people try that stunt and get themselves killed. We have a graveyard to the west in the burial of that..." He sighs in frustration at the rashness of youth.

"Ok…." Samuel was hesitant, but allowed the man to heal the baby girl's spirit. If what he said was true, it most likely is, then keeping her will be a complete hinderance. Sadly.

"I've been tasked with finding herbs the local healer needs, within the forest. Do you know what beasts lay in waiting?"

Mystic then rumbles through his chest and pulls out a small box, he opens it up, revealing a block of wax. He lit the stick on fire and let the scent waft through the place. He begins his chanting and Samuel watches the girl, noticing that her deformed body seems to start correcting itself. Finally revealing proper two arms and her eyes become normal with bright blue eyes. She giggles while rolling on her back and playing with her fingers, then sucking on her thumb.

"By the grace of gods, I have blessed this child to be free from the curse. Please embrace this child into your arms so she may rest in peace." Mystic pleads to heaven and it responds in kind with a beam of sunlight shining upon the baby form. She looks at Samuel with a smile as her form then finally away.

Mystic sighed once more before turning to Samuel, "Thank you. It does this heart some good as a young spirit does not deserve to linger and suffer in the world of living, as for these plants. There should not be any that can surprise you... Unless things have changed since the appearance of Crown which I do not know anymore. I can only trust that this power of yours will keep you safe."
