Prologue: The Last God

It was cold and silent at the end of time. The cold blackness encompassed everything that was left. All the stars had long burned out, and even the planets were dark and silent. What remained of them at least. Too many to count had been ground to cosmic dust in the slow decay of time, and entropy had claimed all but Asgard.

The halls of gold, silver, stone, and enchanted wood were black as night, never having been tread upon in billions of eons. The treasuries were still stocked with relics and powerful items. Yet the tables bore no meats, fruits, nor ales, nor did the seats fill with Gods. For there was only one God left in all the cosmos. All across the multiverse All the Gods had either faded to entropy, or died in one way or another. Yet one remained. Stubborn, proud, and tired.

All that was left was for this one last God to surrender. To finally let go.

Perhaps if this one stubborn God were a lesser God, he would. Perhaps he would fade into the blackness, lost to all.

However, he was no lesser God, nor would he give up. He was the greatest God to ever live.

For he was Thor, and he would not fall. nor would he fade. Even as the last being in this dead cosmos, he refused to give up. To give in to the black.

Sitting upon a stone throne, one his father sat upon for many eons before him, the king of Asgard, and the God who defied fate time and time again silently watched existence with his all seeing eyes. He sat upon the throne, the darkness surrounding him, yet he saw as clear as day. Darkness never really mattered to Gods like him, nor would it ever.

His long white beard rested upon his blue mail upon his chest, and his bright blue eyes pierced the blackness that threatened to swallow him whole if he let it. His winged helm rested upon his ancient head, and his muscled arms rested silently upon the throne's arm rests.

His mallet rested next to his silvery boots, faintly glowing with small crackling lines of electricity.

He let out a long slow breath that echoed and resonated all throughout the long empty halls around him, his eyes closing. He was old. Old beyond counting, and that breath was the first he had taken in many millions of years.

"So...This is it?" He asked, his old voice a whisper on an imaginary wind.

His bones creaked and his joints cracked as he slowly stood up from his throne.

Over the past three billion years he had felt the slowly approaching end of all things, and he had held it off for just as long afterwards. Now though, things were different. It really was the end.

"No" He muttered, shaking his head, reaching down and grasping his hammer.

"This be not the end, merely an end" He corrected himself, walking out of the massive long hall where he had spent his time resting in the cold dark emptiness.

Stepping out of the hall into the lands of Asgard, Thor raised his hammer to where there once was a sky or stars and galaxies one last time.

With loud booming thunder, lightning flashed all across the universe seen by only him, the last God. It coalesced into his hammer, and he reclaimed all the power he had used to keep the universe together.

"I know not what lies beyond this end, but I Thor face this end as a God should!" He shouted, his voice shaking the very fabric of reality all across the unraveling universe. And with the sound of a violent tearing, all went white.

500 Million Years ago, Paleozoic Era

Planet Earth shook and trembled as massive storms tore across the sky, flooding much of the supercontinent that was largely dominated by tiny invertebrate. The seas rose and fell as lightning and tsunamis flooded the coastlines.

In one flash of lightning, one could see a large man shooting through the skies, slamming into the side of a small mountain before burrowing deeply into it. Then all was silent and the storms faded back into the normal weather.

43 Million years ago, Cenozoic Era

The mountain and it's inhabitant had long been buried under the many ice sheets, shifting earth of the ice ages and accumulation of rock, slate and dirt. Still, the inhabitant made no sign of moving or waking, gripping the hammer tightly in a deep sleep within a cavern far beneath the Earth's surface.

13 Thousand years ago, Late Pleistocene Age

Much of what would be considered Canada and Northern North America in the late future was covered in small ice sheets and Glaciers, and still, Thor slept beneath the Earth of what would many years later be called Texas.

September 15th, 1992

After the two world wars, The Cold War, and too many conflicts to count, America had grown to a world power that was unrivaled, and it only seemed to grow. The time of superstition and Gods was over, and the time of progress and machinery was in full swing. However, what the Humans walking the surface of the planet did not know was that a God did exist, slumbering deep beneath the planet's surface, and he was soon to wake up.

A single prayer pierced the deep stone, slate and rock of the crust, and went deep down to the cavern that Thor slept within. His power almost fully recovered. The Thor Sleep almost complete.

"I know it's silly of me. Praying to a God I don't even know exists, But if you are real. Please, Please, grant me strength to face my fears and move forward with my life" a young boy's voice could hazily be heard in Thor's mind, but it passed as quickly as it came, but soon another prayer came. Then another. Before silence came again.

May 23rd, 2092

"Please, if you hear this, Anyone out there. Anyone! Please save us!" "Please! If you're out there, anyone, please save us!" hundreds, nay, thousands of voices filled Thor's head as his eyes slowly opened for the first time in hundreds of millions of years.

His blue eyes flashed with newfound power, and what was once white hair had been replaced with the golden locks of his youth. The Thor Sleep had been completed, and humanity needed him once more.

He found himself lying deep beneath the Earth in a large dark subterranean cavern.

"Mjolnir! to me!" He shouted, his rejuvenated voice and body pumping full of divine power.

Vraaaang!

The reverberating power of the hammer flying through the cavern and into his right hand shook the cavern, and Thor swung it in a large circle, forming a large swirling rainbow portal up to the surface that he stepped through.

What greeted him on the other side was a world at war.

A world at war with the Raptures. A war Humanity was losing.
