I want to point out something: In Skyward Sword, you travel forward and backward in time. This causes an automatic divergence in the timeline into FOUR, count them, FOUR different paths! Let me explain!
Path one -> The Future Timeline
Path two -> The Past Timeline
Path three -> Fallen Future Timeline
Path four -> Fallen Past Timeline.
In the future timeline, you kill Demise with the Triforce.
In the past, you seal him within the Master Sword. Then take him to the Future Timeline. Thus, Demise's curse no longer exists in the Past TL, only in the Future TL.
Demise can't exist in the Past TL's future because he was no longer sealed, and got sent to another TL - The Future Timeline. Therefore, none of the events after Skyward Sword can happen within the Past TL, only the Future TL.
The Future Fallen TL is where Link Dies before he could get sent back in time in the first place.
In this one, Demise still gets released in his imperfect form. Zelda either takes him out on her own or travels back in time to defeat him there. Or doesn't defeat him at all and gets used to resurrect him back into his True Form.
The Past Fallen TL is where Link Dies in the past sometime during Demise's resurrection.
Zelda dies, probably, and Demise roams free in his True Form. He either gets defeated again and resealed or conquers the world unimpeded.
Can you see the problems?!?!?!?!?!?!
I JUST NOTICED THIS WHILE REPLAYING SKYWARD SWORD! WHY DIDN'T ANYONE ELSE NOTICE!?
Ah! I hear you object! Impa would completely wreck this theory! WRONG! Both Future and Past Impa aren't the same. They are two different people who saw similar enough events to be nigh identical but are undistinguished from each other.
This could only occur during the Past Fallen Timeline where Link fails to defeat Demise or against Ghiriham but Zelda manages to defeat them. Zelda reseals Demise into the Imprisoned Form while Ghiriham got so damaged that he got some form of amnesia. Zelda then gives instructions to Impa, followed by giving information to the people of Skyloft about a Hero who'll defeat Demise in the future before she, herself, dies (or lives but never returns to the future.) Fast forward, the events play out the same, however. Link succeeds in defeating Demise like in canon. The Past Impa is different because she grew up learning from her future/past self, and possibly getting instructions from Zelda herself.
This also explains why Impa is so protective of the Future Zelda, as she didn't want her to die a second time. Furthermore, since Past Zelda was awakened as the Goddess, it can also be said that Impa became the Agent of the Goddess because of Zelda's instructions. It also makes it more depressing when Old Impa finally kicks the bucket as she gets to rejoin her Zelda in the afterlife.
In short: Past Fallen Timeline Zelda is directly responsible for the success of the Canon Timeline.
Are you not entertained!?
