  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.

So I've had a small issue that seems like it could be worth bringing up just in case. I had an alert of someone quoting my post, in a thread I've never posted in.

My Alerts tab said this post is quoting a post of mine. Not a major thing, but was worried if the forum might start mixing things up and issues that could come of that

Note that if the post had a quote of you when made, but it was then edited out (before the point where it displays that it was edited), you would still get an alert.

Using my modly powers, I will confirm that was the case (the post originally had WhiteWhiskey quoted in it, but that was since edited out).

Thanks for asking!

Ah, alright, wasn't aware that could happen in a thread I hadn't posted in

The multiquote feature carries across threads, and quote alerts still function when quoted in another thread than the quote was from. This can be useful (for re-homing derails and such), but it can also mean that you multiquote someone in one thread, forget about it and go to another thread, collect some quotes from the second thread, and then "insert quotes" without checking that they're all from the right thread. The usual reaction to noticing that one has done this is to delete the erroneous quote, which indeed would seem to be what happened here.
