Could the thread necro warning be removed if you are the OP?

As it says on the tin, it feels weird getting this warning if you are the OP of a thread. I can't really think of a situation where this warning would ever really be needed for specifically the thread OP. Dunno if it's technically feasible tho

You gotta request mods to remove it.

Tanuki said with a look of innocence.

But basically the necromancy warning is if you post in a thread more than 30 days old. Once it's done... it's no longer there

I think the necromancy warning is there to discourage resurrecting a thread others might flock to check to see if there's been an update and get annoyed to find someone else posting a question instead or such. If an author resurrects their own story and continues it along, then its probably classed as acceptable necromancy as its introducing new content to a story-thread that is their own and once that has happened future replies don't trigger the necromancy warning again till its sat a month without posts, so, its a rare occurrence enough anyway?

I don't think the mods are liable to take offence to an author continuing their own story, its more there to warn others who might binge-read a story they found through a link in someone else's story or otherwise, without realizing how long its been. I've read some cool stories that have been sitting in place for months since then, and it reminds me that as much as I enjoyed a tale, I could drop a word of appreciation in the author's profile if I want to say that was fun read without unnecessarily pushing a thread back up top when its been quiet for a while.

Just idle thoughts on the side though, not sure how accurate that is for the moderation team's intentions?

Accurate.

We don't hit OPs for necromancy, and if we do by accident, appealing with 'I'm the OP' would be a pretty slam dunk defence. The warning by the reply box is there to reduce the amount of accidental necros, due to not checking the dates.

I don't think we can stop OPs from getting the same reply box warning, with base functionality. There's an option to let OPs bypass post friction (which the warning is, as is locking a thread), but mods have that by default, and we still have to check the box.
