Charles Xavier is dead, and after his death, a video is played, revealing his darkest secret. How he abandoned one of his own and sent him across the omniverse. A young boy named Matthew Malloy whom he wiped his mind.
Now, far beyond the multiverse, Matthew Malloy finds himself with a new life with no memories in an incredible world of Adventurers, Dragons, Monsters, and magic. The thing is, he's a farm boy in the Slane Theocracy. As he grows, and the Professors blocks slip, can he hold on and save all he holds dear, or will all return to nothing?

Prologue: An End and a Beginning

In a dark room as silent as death itself, a projector whirred to life, and an image of Charles Xavier splashed across the wall at the far side from the projector.

"My X-Men. If you are watching this then I have passed on. Do know that I wholeheartedly believe that I have lived my best life in the best way possible, having dedicated so much of it to making sure our people will see a better day."

The projection of Charles continued after a short breath.

"Having my home filled with your love and courage has been a life well spent. I truly love you all..." He trailed off, looking down at his hands that were clenched tightly on his lap.

"And in that desire to keep our future from collapsing in that love. I have abandoned one of our own to the uncaring whims of the omniverse." He grit his teeth, taking a deep breath before continuing, looking up.

"As you all know, there have been moments of compromise that we have had to make. For me, one such compromise involves one of us. A fellow mutant..." He grit his teeth again, gulping before speaking again.

"A mutant so powerful, the very existence of all we hold dear in the countless realities we find ourself in was put in jeopardy. The very coexistence we seek would be impossible with him here. As such, I have committed an unforgivable sin."

He breathed in and out several times.

"Before you lash out, please hear my full story." He said, a grim look on his face.

"When I created Cerebro, I had intended to use it to help our people, but like all good things, it came with a horrible price. Some of which you may be familiar with."

"But there was one thing, one Mutant, one glitch that I had at first thought was an error. A bug that had somehow gone unnoticed. Reality is never so kind."

"When I first saw him, he was not but a young child of ten or eleven years old. Yet he was the most powerful mutant Cerebro and I had ever sensed, and he had gone completely under our noses up until now."

"I had met the young boy, Matthew Malloy. He was a scared and timid boy who had no control of his gifts. At the time I thought it was a gift, but I was soon to be proved wrong. On the day I became aware of him, he had lashed out, destroying his home and parents in a flight of panic."

"I had used my abilities to send the authorities away from the scene, lest they get caught in his powers. And such over the next four years, I posed as a boy about his age. A friend. I instilled the beliefs and hopes we have in the boy, slowly creating subtle psychic blocks that restrained his powers..."

The professor looked down at his lap.

"But I failed. Matthew realized that I was not a young boy like him, and he snapped. And that was my darkest day."

Charles paused, took a deep breath, and then went silent for several more moments.

"I destroyed his mind. While he was unstable, I overwhelmed his mind for just a moment, and reverted his mind to that of a two year old, to which his overwhelming power reverted him physically as well, and instilled within him the desire to flee as far away as possible. And he vanished. Likely jumping through the infinite dimensions and higher realities. I doubt there would be anyone I could trust who could bring him back. He likely will be in that state, fleeing across all reality and even the omniverse for many years..."

"I have failed myself, and all of you. And for that, I can only apologize. I have no right to ask for your forgiveness, so I can only hope you need not make such a decision yourselves. And now, you have heard my darkest secret. It is up to you what decisions you make from here on out."

The projection whirred to a stop, and professor Xavier disappeared from the screen.

--------------------

"My name is Matthew Malloy. I'm a farm boy in the Holy Slane Theocracy. I've just turned ten last year, and Helping Pa produce grains and raising livestock for the local village and the Church is what I live for. One day I'll be big and strong like Pa, and even ride the horses as well as him.

Ma says that I'll be big and strong like him if I eat healthily, but I'm still a little bit skinny. Hopefully, I'll at least grow big like my brother if I can't be as big as Pa.

Little Sis says I'll forever be a shrimp, but she's a shrimp herself. I think she's jealous.

In three years, I'll be able to take the Church's test to see if I've got any gifts. Hopefully I do. I want to help out where I can. I'm not sure how I'll do it., but I'm sure the Church Priests knows better than me.

Anyways, I got to go. Pa needs me to help with the haybales.

Praise the Gods"

Let's see how this mutant fares in a fantasy world... No one will believe the MC is just a simple farmer when he starts to show his powers.

It will be fun to read how long it takes the characters to realize that the MC's powers don't follow the rules of their world.

The MC should be careful when he has the attention of a certain half-elf girl who is looking for someone strong to impregnate her 😅.

Chapter One: Family New
Chapter One: Family

The village of Ardenmore sat snug on the far northwest of the borders of the Slane Theocracy, and aside from the occasional tithe collectors and Priests that visited the village, there was little interacting with the outside world. There would be stories about the goings on in the nation, and of course the Six Gods were worshipped, but aside from that, It had little to do with anything else.

The borders of the Theocracy were well protected, and little much of anything came their way outside of the adhered to Holy Days and festivals.

The stone walls surrounding the town curved around it's entire span, following the skirt of the many homes, barns, and pastures. It boasted in it's vicinity several large white mills in which the wheat was ground, and three separate butchers who prepared the meats used and exported from the village.

If one had a mind to, it wasn't a long trek to the smaller border towns near the Dwarven Kingdom, and with careful planning, you could leave the Theocracy in several hours on a hasty carriage. After the soft fields and green forests that seemed fresh off a painter's easel, the grass would become sparse, and sharp rocks would begin popping up in the wild grassy rough highlands below the looming western mountain ranges not so far off the beaten roads.

For hikers and explorers, the view was definitely worth the effort, and even adventurers would come and go in the hills and highlands, either to destroy monsters, or seach for rare prey as hunters. The vast mines in and around the dry gray and clumped green mountainsides worked day and night to produce quality ores and stone for the reclusive Dwarves, and their reluctant allies in the Slane Theocracy, as well as the Re-Estize Kingdom to their north.

Despite the Theocracy flourishing, there still were things that needed to be finished, such as dividing up the conquered Elf lands. However, such news did not make it to the children of the small towns in the far north, as the north had it's own purpose, such as farming, raising livestock, stone gathering, and logging. The politics of those in power, and just about everything was out of their hands.

Though it was not like they were entirely ignorant of the goings on in the Theocracy.

The news of Elven lands captured, or successes in research into Magic and Holy Magic was not to be understated. Once, in passing, an armed troop had passed by the little village five years ago, and it took two years for the stories to die down.

And so, it leads us to now, in the large brownish red barn, the eleven year old Matthew Malloy sat atop a bale of hay as his father, a tall man of broad and stocky build, who had an average sized head topped by short brown hair, and strikingly blue eyes. His skin was somewhat tan from the harsh sun all the time outdoors, but otherwise, he was fairly pale.

His father, Russel Jameson wore a half unbuttoned blue shirt and brown cloth pans that covered half of his brown boots. A large straw hat sat atop his head as he mucked a horse stall across from the boy.

"Two more years until the church takes you in for inspection. Let's pray they find you have something to offer. I know how excited you've been to show off what you can do!" he said, looking over to his adopted son. His voice was soft, but it did retain a hardness that all who worked the land gained after many years.

"Yes! I've been looking forward to it too." Matthew responded, brushing his eye length brown hair out of the way, revealing his pale, slightly thin face. He wore a thin brown shirt that was buttoned up, with brown cloth pants and brown shoes.

"I know. Ever since you found that you could do what you do, it's been a shock to all of us. Who knew that you could create such a strong explosion? You almost destroyed your whole room when you first did it. Haha." His father laughed, wiping the sweat from his brow, causing is straw hat to fall down his back, but it was tied on a lose string around his neck, so it just hung there till he put it back on properly.

"I was so scared. I didn't know what to do at all." Matthew responded, looking down at his hands that lay open palmed on his knees.

"We all have gifts from the Gods, some more overt than others. With proper training from the Church, you will be able to use your powers for not only the Gods, but your family, for the home we've made, and everyone in our Theocracy."

"Did these powers really come from the Gods? I've never heard about these before." Matthew replied, looking confused.

"The world is large, my son, and the Gods share their blessings in mysterious ways. I'm sure all will be revealed to you in time." His father said, placing his shovel against the barn wall and walking over to his son.

Sitting down, he ruffled the boy's hair with his large hand.

"What you need to focus on right now is not your powers, but what you will do with them. It is of no question to me that as you grow, so will your abilities. Just have faith. In the Gods, and in yourself. In two years, when you go off to the Church for testing, leave nothing unsaid. In doing so, you will make not only us proud, but yourself as well" He finished, taking his hand off his son's head, and standing up.

"Though, for now, I'll be needing some help with these stalls. Go get a shovel and bucket, then get to work here." His dad said, walking back over to his shovel and finishing removing the droppings from the stall.

As Matthew walked over to the shed next to the barn, his mind wandered, and for just a moment, he heard his dad's voice.

"Gods forgive me, for I hope he doesn't get taken by the Church. I'd miss him too much, especially now that Slade went to the Holy Magic academy," he heard his dad say, but turning around, his father was silently mucking another stall.

"Dad?" He asked quietly, but his father didn't hear him.

"Strange." He murmured, then turned back towards the shed to get his shovel and bucket.

For the next half hour, the father and son mucked the stalls, replaced the haybeds, and cleaned the replacement horseshoes. Then, they went out to the grain fields to kill any large rodents or pests that showed up there.

Many pests and large insects would come and wreak havoc on the crops, so ever year a priest from the nearby city would bless the crops to repel the insects, and make them grow, but sometimes the blessing was ineffective.

And so, they wandered through the fields, occasionally stopping to drink from the waterskins they brought with them under the harsh summer sun.

After that, Matthew would spend time with his younger sister who was quite boisterous and would always wish to climb trees with him. Given her young age, he would find himself making sure she didn't fall from a branch or climb very high, lest she harm herself in the process.

Many times she would scrape her knees and elbows on the branched and bark of the large oak trees near the farm.

And so, the young girl, barely nine, dressed in a similar outfit to him, would climb with him. She knew not to wear her dress or blouse when climbing, lest she dirty it or damage it. And so, with his younger sister on his back, as she couldn't climb the base of the wide tree herself, Matthew climbed up to the thick lower branches and set her down upon a sturdy one next to him.

"Brother, are you leaving like older brother did soon?" She asked him, looking up at him with her large green eyes and messy brown hair that fell down her back. She had a nervous frown on. It was a question she asked him often after their big brother left for the magic academy.

"Not for now. I'll be here for at least two more years. Don't you worry sis."

She looked down at her clasped hands.

"Mom and Dad say to pray to the Gods when you're scared, and I always pray that you won't be taken from us." She said, clasping her hands and offering a silent prayer to the Gods up above.

"Don't worry so much. If I do have to go, I'll come visit often," Matthew said, giving a wide grin to his sister.

"Promise?" She asked, giving him a wide eyed look signaling her hope and genuine trust.

"I promise." He said, pulling her in with a one armed hug.

"Alright. I believe you." She said, and Matthew smiled.

It was nice to have family.

It's going to get crazy once Charles Xaviers psychic blocks and restraints begin to wear off.

As for Anteline/Zesshi, she will be a pivotal character later.

How long will that happiness last for you?, 😢.

I almost feel sorry for the bastard who will have the misfortune of facing him if the MC unleashes his power in an extreme emotional situation.

I understand, 👍.
