Bug: Mobile threadmark menu scrolling error

I have noticed a longstanding issue with the thread marks menu when on mobile, and have finally gotten around to writing up a bug report about it. This bug has been on the site at least since the switch to xenoforo2 (or however it is spelled)

When on mobile, in threads that have more than one threadmark on a single page, opening up the thread marks menu from the upper bar portion of the post (the one that has arrows on either side of it) and clicking the link does not correctly bring me to the threadmark I have selected, as it should have, but merely closes the menu. (It also scrolls the screen down as much as the menu has, but I don't think that's related)

It isn't a wold ending bug by any means, but it does make following a story, particularly in snippet threads, rather difficult. (Cptagons writing threads can be particularly bad about this, with the threadmarks to comment ratio)

I have no idea what could be causing this minor inconvenience, but I hope you have some luck fixing it. Let me know if I wasn't clear enough in describing the issue.

What browser are you using? Are you using any add-ons? Cause I can't reproduce the issue even in the thread you mentioned.

I am using the Opera GX web browser, and I do not use any Add-on's. As of reading your comment, I checked the Google Chrome web browser, and the issue persists.
I honestly can't think of anything that could cause it.

Edit: Might be nothing, but I am on an android device. Not sure if that would change anything, but it is a point of data.

I have noticed that on safari mobile on an apple device sometimes when I go to open a thread mark for quests with multiple thread marks on the first page, instead of taking me to the thread mark I want it stays at the top.

I suspect it's trying to auto scroll to the the dropdown button at the top of the page where you select thread marks instead of the thread mark itself?

But it's not consistent and I cannot reproduce it, it seems to happen semi-randomly.

But it only happens when more than one thread mark is on one page, and has happened for things under both the threadmarks and index labels.

Chiming in that this seems to be a still ongoing issue that I just started experiencing myself. As you and others have noted, it seems to happen on Threads with more than one threadmark on the page. A difference I observed is that my threadmark menu (the one opened by clicking in between the arrows) does not close like yours does. On the two problem-threads I've identified so far (my own story and one by AStoryForOne), it will move up and down, respectively, when clicking a link leading to a thread that has two or more threadmarks on the same page. There's also some strangeness going on because a test thread I made when I was learning to use threadmarks is working perfectly despite all the threadmarks being on one page. Open the menu -> Click the link -> it loads on that threadmark and the menu automatically closes.

Could word count/total page size be an issue?

The test thread is a small page because all the threads have very little writing and are right next to each other. Meanwhile, the pages with several full chapters and comments are much larger. Perhaps there is a reading/processing issue?

As a few final notes, desktop mode doesn't seemingly have this issue, my browser was Chrome, I was using an Android phone, and the issue wasn't initially a problem.

Did you ever find any solutions?

Also, do we know if the mods are aware of the issue?

Hi.

Unfortunately, I'm not very tech-minded, so even if I know, I can't help. @alethiophile or @ultima333 might, but I don't know if they have the time with all the other stuff on their to-do lists.

Wish you luck, though.
No worries. I wasn't expecting a fix anytime soon. I just wanted mod attention to be sure it was added to the "known issues"/"investigation" pile—even if it just sits there for a year or so—instead of being lost to time with the thread.

As for me, I'm hoping it will sort itself out.
