Oh I mean, he could probably give Spiritual Calming charges. But it's a relatively minor effect that works best held for a prolonged period of time. Not really designed for that like attacks or short term boosts. It's something to think on though.

Ah, it has been a few chapters since that was mentioned, and I'm bad with numbers, so I usually just ignore them until they're presented to me. 64 was the last number we were given, +1 for first Armour, +5 for the next two, +5 for the next three gets us to 75%. So 75% in addition to whatever happened in the previous trial, whether that was a quality or adjustment or something isn't outright stated but it seems like it was more reflective than outright upgrading.
 
I'd be quite amused if the whole temple had a second "level" to it that people had been missing for centuries because they're That kind of ascendant.
 
What is the benefit of defending? It seems like everyone would just go for flags since defending mainly just means helping others get ahead while risking yourself

There's a benefit for being on the winning team that'll become obvious at the beginning of the next round. Shane just didn't bother to dig into the rules much to find out lol.

More that I wanted to give the new form a full chapter to shine lol. Shoehorning it in at the end didn't seem fair but I still wanted to introduce it.

Honestly it's a very prevalent writing technique. The real problem comes when cliffhangers are overused with little impact or point to them. Your use of cliffhangers is well done.
 
Tbh the Azure Soul Transformation felt a bit underwhelming, I was expecting it to be a bit longer
