    If you think about it, it seems like a lot of shonen dads don't have wives, such as Luffy's dad, or his dad's dad. But in Hunter x Hunter, there's the reasonable explanation that there's a pregnancy stone, which if you carry for one month, you can pregnant, even as a male.
