It never made sense that Dexter could build up such a massive laboratory without outside funding, and also without heavy industry, or precise instruments, or exotic matter, or eldritch knowledge... just from a then-median income, seemingly average American household, not even as an adult, in less than a decade, without personal income or knowledgeable mentor, while still being disrupted and misunderstood
